    This is not the first time I've privied this school of thought. I'd actually heard this from a friend some years ago. He and his set consciously chose what they'd termed "Ugly Betty" for wives. His claims were, that with his line of work, he simply couldn't have his superior possibly help himself to a pretty wife, whereas the ugly will be left alone, waiting for him.
