Rode the fixie to my first baseball game of the year... have another 90 of those rides planned (down in Florida this month, then up north starting in April) if all goes well. Got a flat, but my team won (kinda) and the weather was great, so not sure if that was a good or a bad omen.

    3/2 - 50 miles (20 commuting at 15mph, 30 at 17mph)
    3/3 - 20 miles

    Total: 70 miles
    Goal: 400 miles
    Remaining: 330 miles

After a very productive 2014 in terms of cycling (a bit more than 3,000 miles, most of it commuting to and from work from April to October), it all came to a crashing halt when the snow started to fall. I had intended to try my hand at winter biking, but kept procrastinating. Even though Minneapolis takes good care of it's bike trails, the sub-0 temperatures were just a bit too intimidating.

But, a few weeks ago I started to collect appropriate gear for Minnesota winter biking (ie a wide variety of layers to tailor the outfit to the wide variety of temperatures one encounters in the winter), and as of March 1st, I'm back out on the road. The end of winter in Minnesota is a nebulous concept, so I could have a few weeks or more than a month of winter biking ahead of me. So far so good.

    March 1 - 5 miles, 25 degrees, no wind
March 2 - 15 miles, 10 degrees and no wind on the way to work, 25 degrees and a little wind on the way home
March 4 - 7.5 miles this morning, 0 degrees with a windchill of -15. I forgot to check the windchill before I left, and was surprised when I looked after getting in. It honestly wasn't all together too bad. Yaay layering. This afternoon's forecast looks like 10 degrees with a little more wind, so windchills similar to what it was this morning.

Monthly goal - no mile goal. Instead I think I'm going to try to bike 15 days this month. I'll aim for every day, but sometimes the weather and work will get in the way.

I'm posting to say I'm jealous of you all. We're bracing for another round of sleet and freezing rain potentially putting the kibosh on safe road/traffic conditions for another few days.
