10,000 steps..how to track the exercise calories?

I was wanting to try a 10,000 step challenge with myself. I know its about 5/mi a day, and I'll probably have to do at least 3 miles of "intentional" walking to get there, and hopefully the rest will be through my normal activity at work and home.
Question is, show I only count "intentional" walking/exercise when I track exercise calories or track it all as if I walked 5 miles all at one time.
Or not track them at all and do a TDEE -20% method which worked in the past.
(I'm currently fallen off the MFP and tracking wagon, but trying to jump back on).

I would either:
1. Buy a FitBit - let it do the work for you (which is actually what I do)
2. Only track the intentional walking because the rest will be accounted for already as part of your daily activity and you don't want to be double dipping on those calories
3. Do the TDEE and bump up your activity to active0 -
Buy a Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) and it will tell you how many calories you have burned with the 10K steps
I use my HRM for all physical activity (i.e. Gardening). it works like a charm. I log my calories at MFP under Gardening and log the number from HRM.
Good luck in your journey0 -
I track what I walk at work and log it..... then I use Endmondo or Runtastic to log distance walks as I go. ( They use GPS and sync with MFP so all I have to do is log in)
Other walking... to the bathroom, around the house or yard I ignore. I don't log household chores or cooking either. I would rather be on the low side than over counting my exercise calories and eating back too much.0
