I have recently been diagnosed with some heart issues. At the moment my DR has me on a strict -no cardio- rule. I am still working out (slower than I prefer). Anyone have advice on what strength training I am able to do that will still benefit me without the aid of cardio? I am trying to get into better shape any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I would ask your doctor about this as well. Anaerobic workouts, while not a sustained increase, can actually increase your HR for short bursts well above what most people would be able to do with steady state cardio.

I do have a heart monitor on 24/7. When it gets to a danger zone it will go off. It is basically trial and error on my part

Is it possible for you to consult a physical therapist? Preferably one trained in sports? I'd think that they'd have much better ideas that would hopefully be safe for you.

Sigh... yeah probably. I am sort of sick of clinics and appointment atm so I wanted to pout my way out of that one.
