Yeah, cold rinses are supposed to get rid of waxy buildup from conditioners, etc. The few times I've tried it (practically doing a backbend so the cold water would hit my head and nothing else) I did notice my hair was shinier.
When I was a kid, I used to rinse my hair with cold water after a shampoo. Definitely did shine! However, this cold rinse was with my head under the sink not in the shower.

We are experiencing one of the worse winters for snow fall in recent memory. It just keeps adding up. We haven't had the freeze/thaw cycle we've had the last few years where we get a big snow fall and then it melts. We got over 20cm (about 8 inches) on Sunday and over 84cm (about 33 inches) on Wednesday.

Yeah I think I'll skip this one and wait for the 'weight loss by wearing all your clothes in one go to sweat it out challenge'. I do not like the cold....and I live in Ireland so basically my whole life is a 'its freezing' challenge!!0

Lol! That's very unfortunate. I'm more for the other benefits rather than the weight loss part. Even if it did work.. 9lbs a year? Really?

Haha whilst this challenge sounds fun/horrifying, I will not be partaking in it. Primarily because I live in a house where hot water is a thing of the gods, and if it is there, IT MUST BE USED. BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE. I'm dead serious The heating system in my home doesn't work either, so I'm more than happy believing that my metabolism has been revved up PLENTY by living daily in an ice-box. No cold showers here thanks.
On a funny note, when I do have to take a cold shower, it's with an unholy amount of swearing. I literally just curse at it the entire time, hopping around with a purplish face. It must look absolutely hilarious.0 -
Cool shower if I've been out in the sweltering Alabama summer heat doing something physical. Warm every other time in the summer, hot in the winter.0

I've been known to soak in a tub of cold water after particularly rigorous training sessions...but that's to help recovery (or at least trick me into thinking it does) and not for weight loss.0

So 9 pounds a year by having cold shower? 9 pounds over a year is basically nothing. Hot showers or 1/5 of a pound a week? I'm taking hot showers
So brown fat is good fat? Why are you going to focus on removing the good fats? If something is good why aim to remove it.0 -

Have no idea lol. I just put in the weight loss benefit I read about because well.. This is a weight loss thread lol. 9lbs a year isn't much anyways. I'm really more interested in the other benefits. Definitely not giving up hot showers. I actually really like extremely hot showers.( as hot as my body can take) I also turn the shower on really hot few minutes before I get in and when I walk in the bathroom it's like a steam room. I love that shi... But I meant end with a cold shower not take a cold one.

I've heard this too. I've been taking cold showers as well. It's not exactly comfortable in the shower, but it cuts down on time and water wasted in the shower and you feel wonderful afterwards.0

I take a cold shower so my red hair won't bleed as much, but I'd rather not.0

At the end of each shower I always do a cold rinse. It's refreshing but I don't see weight coming off though. Maybe my cold rinse should last more than 5 seconds to see results0

I did cold showers for about 3 months when my water heater broke. At the end of the 3 months I was still fat. And cold. And being cold meant tense muscles, which resulted in more pain.
