Lemon water in the morning!

I love it! Drinking warm lemon water in the morning has wonderful health benefits (look it up!) but it's also helped curb my appetite. I'm usually starving by the time I get to work (around 9 am). But I decided not to eat breakfast until I have consumed a cup of water. I've been drinking it all morning (it's a little cold now) and I'm not as hungry as I was earlier so I am going to push my breakfast back later.
Also it has given me a nice boost of energy. I'm definitely incorporating this into my daily routine.

Hot liquids definitely help me to feel full. And I like lemon water too. I usually just have tea in the mornings though.
Lemon water will also help neutralize any bad breath, lol!0 -

I never knew there was a correlation between warm liquids and satiety. But I have noticed that a cup of coffee will curb my appetite between meals.0 -

That's probably the caffeine.0 -
Nothing wrong with lemon water if you like it, but as for magical health benefits, it's woo sorry. You can look that up too0

@Nony_Mouse how do you know if ''nutrition/weightloss/exercise facts/theories'' are woo or not? There is a lot of false information out there, and I seem to be buying into a lot of it.
Also, have you heard of Doctor Libby? what do you think of her? my family seems to buy what she says, but I'm not sure. She talks about acidity and alkaline and stuff, and the way she promotes eating doesn't seem particulary enjoyable. I'm just wondering if what she says is true, she claims to be a ''doctor''.0 -

One renowned dietician would disagree that it's woo.

Basically, the human body maintains a very delicate acid/alkaline balance, and an upset in that balance would make you dead - not in need of a glass of lemon water0 -

I drink cold lemon water during the day when I crave sweets. With a little added sweetener. So, lemonade basically.0

It's not like they're suggesting people spin around three times and howl at the moon or send them $99 for a lemon water starter kit.0 -
I think it's a little over-hyped IMO, that said, if it gets you in the right frame of mind to make better choices through the day then rock on...0

Perhaps a psychological benefit?
I personally can not abide drinking warm/hot water, with or without lemon. Two of my co-workers drink warm water all day after their first cup of coffee. They are both slim, so, maybe.
I have to have icy cold water.
Whatever works.0 -
Despite the ONE RDN who advocates for it...I am doubtful of any health effects. And even if it's later proven that my doubts are wrong, this can be safely filed in "majoring in the minors".0

Barbara Rolls, PhD, did some work on the effect of water on satiety. I don't know if she studied hot water in isolation but she did find that soups were more filling to people than the identical foods served in non-soup with an identical serving of water on the side, to drink.0 -

I drink green tea for the satiated effect. Even decaf green tea works, so I don't think it's a caffeine thing.
There was also a wonderful British study that determined that just holding a hot liquid in your hands reduces stress. Don't know how much follow up has been done on that, but I figure, it can't hurt. And with hot lemon water in the morning, at minimum it's keeping you hydrated and gives you a little extra vitamin C.0 -

The word "lemon" doesn't appear anywhere on the page you linked. Neither does "water." Can you show something that indicates this person disagrees that warm lemon water has magical health benefits?

Interrupting to say that the the left side (facing) of @tincanonastring 's avi is crazy adorable.0 -
She definitely doesn't think it's magical but she recommends trying it. Her client won this reality show that pegged diets against each other. Which is neither here nor there, just adding the context.
"Tip: Drink hot lemon water each morning & 16 ounces water before meals."

So your definition of critical thinking is to ignore the recommendations of industry experts and ... listen to random internet forum posters with opinions?0 -

Well, that's not an oversimplification designed to be as insulting as possible while skirting the MFP guidelines or anything.0 -

Where are you getting industry expert? Because she's an RDN?0
