    Muddy buddies!

You can buy if pre-made. It's yucky

We call this Puppy Chow. Is this a regional thing?

Yeah its the same. I switch between the two due to having friends from all over

This is the nutrition label of the store bought Chex Mix. It has more oil than the kind made at home.

And contains partially hydrogenated oils, which is why I only eat homemade Chex Mix.

I make it with EVOO instead of butter and I add sriracha. It's just about the only food I really feel like I can't eat in moderation so I very, very rarely make it.

I think the recipe for making "Chex Party Mix" was on the boxes in the 1950s! I keep seeing things on the web that claim to be the "original" recipe but call for bagel chips. There was no such thing as a bagel chip back then! Here's an article describing what may be the original recipe from 1952 http://www.deepsouthdish.com/2011/12/authentic-original-original-1952-chex.html#axzz3WEHQnsJg

Yes. When I was growing up in CA we called this Muddy Buddy. Then I moved to Texas, and they called it puppy chow. I was like wtf is puppy chow? Same thing!

I learnt how to make it in Illinois and it was called Puppy Chow :) lived on it during theatre rehearsals!
