If you only have these things once in a while why do you need to block it. Carbs aren't bad.

Jesus... we have Alli which is a fat blocker, we have carb blockers, when are we going to have protein blockers? Why the discrimination!?

I've heard that if you eat Kalteen bars and only eat carbs you will lose tons of weight because the Kalteen bars have an ingredient in them that blocks carbs ;)

Scam. They aren't really "blocked" at all, but reduces the digestion process.

What's wrong with carbs? I had pizza tonight, and consequently had my best working set of deadlifts since being back in a deficit. Carbs are freaking great.

Oh, sweetie...don't. First: they might not work anyway and be a waste of money. Second: if any science at all is proven on them, you have no way of knowing that the specific brand you're using utilizes the quality of ingredients and the amount necessary in order to perform the carb-blocking action. Third, you can't know what that's going to do to your digestive system; I mean there IS a mechanism going on here. Fourth, reducing your carbs won't do anything for you (except release initial water weight) if you don't reduce your overall calories. Fifth, if this is the road you're going to go down, and if by some miracle they do work at least in some small way, you'll be buying and taking them for the rest of your life or else gain the weight back...right? And who wants to do that?

Given all that...where are the "pros"? I am seeing only cons here.

I tried them, I threw them in the trash after a week.
I am NOT a gassy person, ever! But a couple of days after taking them my husband was seriously searching the house looking for a dead animal stashed somewhere. I didn't tell him it was me!! I was too afraid to go to the store incase people within a 20 foot radius started dropping dead around me :open_mouth: It was an horrendous experience....

I tried them- they turned out to be made from bean- protein. The packet warned of initial gastro-intestinal effects. OMG- they gave me the worst, foulest gas. I could'nt even stand to be around me! It was so embrassing. I threw them out. save your money.

Carb blockers usually slow enzymes in one or more absorption processes of carbohydrates. They don't completely block carbs - so if you over eat, you'll still get fat.

The horrible flatulance is you not absorbing the carbs and delivering them to the bacteria in your lower gut. Makes them thrive. Yummy! Those bacteria cause the gas and possibly other nice symptoms. They thank you.

Actual, weight loss from carb blockers? Nope. It's a nice idea, but not really demonstrated in research.
They are useful in rebound hypoglycemia seen by people with diabetes to manage glucose spiking.

Oh, and taking them after a meal makes them completely useless.

As a diet supplement, probably not a good idea, as a treatment, they have their use.

Evgenizyntx pretty much nailed it! Listen to him as he is quite knowledgeable. But this still requires a humorous meme...

I've seen a few posts by you and they all seem like you're after some short cut or miracle. I've just had a look at your diary and you are consistently logging 1000 calories or less. This is really not a healthy way to lose weight. Luckily it also looks like your logging is pretty inaccurate so I'm guessing you're actually eating a lot more than that anyway. Losing weight is no quick miracle thing. If you want to lose some weight and keep it off in a healthy way you need to set a sensible calorie amount and realise that it will be slow. I recommend you take a step back and have a good think about your approach. I will leave you with a couple of threads that are a great starting point. Good Luck

Coming off the back of the last post, I know exactly how you're feeling wanting to push along the weight loss and make it easier.
I've tried a lot of the so called weight loss supplements, even phentermine! ! Let me tell you they all suck! The phen may have worked if I could have handled the terrible side effects and didn't mind forking out $120 for the privilege. But as for things such as carb blockers, garcinia cambogia, plexus and green coffee/tea etc etc etc they are 100% scams designed to part desperate overweight people from their cash.
The ONLY thing that helped me lose the weight was come here and listen to the wonderful advice readily given by the good people here and honestly and diligently logging my calories. So simple and no BS pills required.

Ok. Thanks for your guys tips. I wont be taking those carb blockers after all because after my first use, I didnt feel so good at all. Secondly I do have logging issues, sometimes I forget to log everything and sometimes I dont log accurately. Im new here and still learning.
