I wish more people would try it. The world needs fewer idiots.

It is very Darwin award worthy if she sees this to her end... I mean, its end.

She is gonna die from it. Other "breatharians" already did. People never learn from others' mistakes apparently.

I like the first sentence of the article: "Eating is generally a good idea."

    No way?!!! You think?!!!

The wikipedia article is very enlightening, but also very sad: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breatharian among the people who died from this was a pregnant woman, the wife of a man who forced this on his entire family, and their children were in a critical condition when they were rescued after their mother and unborn sibling had died.

The article has highlights too, this bit was the most hilarious:

"On his website, Brooks states that his potential followers must first prepare by combining the junk food diet with the meditative incantation of five magic "fifth-dimensional" words which appear on his website, some of which are words from Kundalini yoga.[27][28] In the "5D Q&A" section of his website Brooks claims that cows are fifth-dimensional (or higher) beings that help mankind achieve fifth-dimensional status by converting three-dimensional food to five-dimensional food (beef).[29] In the "Question and Answer" section of his website, Brooks explains that the "Double Quarter-Pounder with Cheese" meal from McDonald's possesses a special "base frequency" and that he thus recommends it as occasional food for beginning breatharians.[30] He then goes on to reveal that Diet Coke is "liquid light".[30] Prospective disciples are asked after some time following the junk food/magic word preparation to revisit his website in order to test if they can feel the magic.[28]"

Guys, just you wait, one day someone will come in to check on her, you know, see if she's dead yet, and instead of finding a woman in the house, they'll open the door to...

    And we'll be all...

She's trying to single handedly do what no animal has done in 600 million years of animal evolution, and evolve the ability to photosynthesise. Single handedly. All by herself. And she's not even green.

    It ain't easy bein' green.

The publicity and interviews will pay for her compulsory admission to an eating disorders unit. Or her funeral.

    Meh.

Was that chick on Wife Swap? If it is, she's cray cray.

If not, WHAT IS IN THE WATER IN THIS COUNTRY

No this particular lady wasn't on Wife Swap as far as I know.

It's this episode that I was thinking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_GTQwfHMzs
  • About 7 years ago, I heard of this "diet." I thought it was a joke, but people were giving it a go.

I hope she's going to dig a hole in the ground and stand in it, then fill the hole with compost so she's up to her knees in compost

otherwise how is she going to get enough nitrates, phosphates and other minerals needed for protein synthesis? Photosynthesis only produces glucose. Also, she'll need to absorb water through her roots... err I mean feet.
