Thanks for posting! I have a similar problem, but I when i workout I tend to feel it when I breathe through my nose. Almost like I am sniffing acid- it's very off putting but doesn't happen everytime. I will be watching this post for any other help on this.

I get this sometimes too. But I feel like since I've lost a few lbs it's not as bad.

Anyone else have this problem? It makes me not want to exert myself because it is so uncomfortable. When I start to breathe hard it feels like I am breathing up stomach acid.

It's actually quite common among runners and weight lifters, less common in cyclists, but certainly happens. (Been there myself many times!) Especially if you are taking in a lot of water, gels, bent over in the tucked position.

How long do you wait before riding after a meal?

In terms of OTC medications, I would do the safe route of chewing a Tums before riding rather than take the nasty Prilosec or other medication (too many side effects from those).

Do you suffer from reflux/heartburn other times besides riding?

Lots of forum threads on cycling websites devoted to reflux. Here's an example...(not sure any problems are solved, but at least discussion is had):

Yep,, I have GERD too. I thought I had it controlled through diet, but not so.

Prilosec is a good medication. It's good not to eat a lot of fatty foods too.
