What can you eat on a diet?

So yeah...

I've seen so many people talking about these "healthy" cakes, muffins, smoothies and in general just desserts. THEY ARE NOT HEALTHY!

Some of them has a high calorie intake, and some have a low calorie intake.

When people see the words healthy in front of food, they generally, instantly think that it is good and you can eat as much as you want.

The cakes are more healthy than normal cakes, but they are NOT everyday eating. They are designed as a substitute to "friday" candy/cake. Also why waiste your time on a "brownie" when there are so many other great choices, like berries, fruit (try some new fruit you have never tasted or don't get often.) and nuts.

You can make so many great simple snacks, that are healthy, delicious and where there hasn't been added any sweetener or exstract.

I personally have started on packing tomatoes, nuts, berries, fruits and rugbrød for school.

In the morning have started on eating oatmeal with raisins. For lunch i eat a piece of fruit and some nuts. At about 4 - 5 pm I eat a piece of rugbrød (which is so, so healthy, good and full of fiber.) at dinner i just eat regular like pasta meat, lasagne, pizza (homemade of course ) and at night i grab a cup of tea.

At Fridays I go trough pinterest and find some yummy snacks and make them.

What do you eat throughout the day? What do you eat to reward yourself? What do you eat at Fridays?

The problem is in rhe thinking you can eat as much as as you. want as if it were calorie free. I eat "whatever I want" but not without counting the calories. The other day for lunch I had a quarter pounder and and coke. And stayed withing my calories and met my macros. *shrug*

I agree - lots of foods just made to make us eat more. Doesn't even taste decent :s

I eat a lot of fruit, smoothies, cheese, nuts and nut butters, fatty fish and meat, fresh vegetables, real whole milk and Greek yogurt. Whatever I like for special treats (not every day!) And crispbread. Lots of Wasa here. Are you Danish or Norwegian??

But - I never eat to reward myself. I'm not a dog :p

You can eat anything. I eat whatever on Fridays. It's all about eating at a calorie deficit, not eating x and y. If you are concerned with body composition you can track protein, but it's not required for weight loss.

My diary is open. This is the kind of food I eat regularly. Some weeks are more nutritious, some are less. All balances out.

Healthy doesn't mean you can eat as much as you want. Just eat for your calorie needs. I do not substitute things if I want the real thing.

You can eat whatever you want but within moderation. I only eat sweets once in a while and always either share with one or two others or order the smallest size available. I have to remind myself that teating heathly is a lifestyle choice and I am not just on a diet. If I think I am on a diet it means that once the weight is off I can go back to how I was eating before which leds me to gain all the weight I have lost. So for mr I can have whstever I want within reason and just because it may be heathly, low fat, ect does not mean I can eat more of it. I am learning to eat by lookong at the serving size of a product and staying within it. I have found that by planning my day out helps me keep on track much better than if I just go through my day without thinking about it until the end of the day.

I would personally hesitate to call a piece of fruit and some nuts lunch...that's a very small snack.

Also, when you're talking about matters of nutrition, you have to look at the overall diet, I don't get too hung up on individual food items. I had a cupcake today while attending my kiddos friend's birthday...big deal...in the grand scheme of my overall diet it's pretty irrelevant. Things like brownies and whatnot can easily be incorporated into a healthy and well balanced diet.

I'm not sure what Friday has to do with anything...

    I eat everything.
Recently I went ham on some Easter candy on clearance.
    Still eat pizza.
    Have steak quite frequently.
Like topping my salad with frozen chicken strips and blue cheese crumbles.
    The list can go on.

I just make sure to fit it in my day. :) Or, if I'm going over, that I'm cognizant of that fact and plan around it in the following days.

To each his own. I don't believe in unhealthy foods, only unhealthy diets. Why eat berries instead of a brownie if I've already hit my macros and I have room for a delicious brownie and I don't want berries? It's all personal preference. As you stated you eat oatmeal and raisins for breakfast - for me that would be a waste. Too many calories for the taste, not enough protein.

If I am craving a brownie I eat a brownie. Berries are not gonna cut it. Tonight I am going to enjoy cheesecake. Last night I had some great dark chocolate. I don't wait until the weekend or until I have a day when I loose control and have a binge. If I enjoy it regularly when I want it at a reasonable portions the desire to "pig out" on Friday is pretty easy to overcome. Of course all carefully weighted and accounted for in my diary. I think that in order to succeed you have to be balanced. And that means not substituting foods I don't really want for those that I do. I also enjoy cheese, real butter, eggs, meat, and sour cream along wit my veggies and a wide variety of other delicious foods.

And so far I'm loosing weight doing it.

I eat what I want within my goals. I have dessert twice a day. I'll start eating more fruit when man comes up with a brownie-flavored berry. Diary's open if you want to snoop. Feel free to PM me about how I'm going to die soon and/or get diabetes.

Haha, I absolutely love doing that with strawberries. Can put that on anything!
However, I would never try to convince someone to choose berries over brownies. That's blasphemous.

Eat what you want. To lose weight it is mostly about eating less calories than you burn.

In order to lose weight and be successful at keeping it off it has to be sustainable, long term.

If you can keep this up the rest of your life, more power to you.

I don't know what that is, but it looks glorious!

I eat whatever I want and my ethical concerns allow. Life is too short to deny yourself yummy 'unhealthy' food. Today's choices include popcorn and vodka. ;) I hiked 3 hrs with a giant 3 year old strapped to my back. And...... diets suck, when I restrict food it feels too much like a diet.

I've seen so many people talking about these "healthy" cakes, muffins, smoothies and in general just desserts. THEY ARE NOT HEALTHY!

Who are these people? Perhaps you could link to give us context? Why aren't these foods healthy?
Some of them has a high calorie intake, and some have a low calorie intake.

    Okay.
When people see the words healthy in front of food, they generally, instantly think that it is good and you can eat as much as you want.

I don't. I assume someone is trying to sell me something or perhaps has a definition of "healthy" that is different from mine.

Why make silly generalizations about other people?
The cakes are more healthy than normal cakes, but they are NOT everyday eating.

    Again, what are these cakes?
They are designed as a substitute to "friday" candy/cake.

    What is a "friday" candy/cake?
Also why waiste your time on a "brownie" when there are so many other great choices, like berries, fruit (try some new fruit you have never tasted or don't get often.) and nuts.

I dunno. Why do you care what I eat?

What fruit do you think I haven't tried that is available to me?
You can make so many great simple snacks, that are healthy, delicious and where there hasn't been added any sweetener or exstract.

I suppose I could. I don't really like snacking, though.

And again, why do you care what I eat?
I personally have started on packing tomatoes, nuts, berries, fruits and rugbrød for school.

That's nice. Tomatoes are out of season here, and I don't like out of season tomatoes.

I eat fruits and berries with meals, and sometimes nuts and berries for snacks (when I snack). Don't know what the other thing is, but I'll take your word for it that it's tasty.
In the morning have started on eating oatmeal with raisins.

That's nice. I don't like raisins. I prefer eggs for breakfast usually. More protein, especially combined with the other things I eat with them.
For lunch i eat a piece of fruit and some nuts.

That's nice, but I kind of think you should eat more protein. I like to get protein and veggies with my lunches.
At about 4 - 5 pm I eat a piece of rugbrød (which is so, so healthy, good and full of fiber.)

Good for you. Google says that's bread. I don't like eating bread by itself, as I don't find it filling, but if it works for you, super!
at dinner i just eat regular like pasta meat, lasagne, pizza (homemade of course ) and at night i grab a cup of tea.

Okay--still seems a little light on the protein, but whatever floats your boat. My dinners are in my diary if they interest you.
At Fridays I go trough pinterest and find some yummy snacks and make them.

I usually go out to dinner on Fridays, and I don't find pinterest interesting, but I understand many people do, so that's neato!
What do you eat throughout the day?

    My diary is open.
What do you eat to reward yourself?

    I don't.
What do you eat at Fridays?

Like I said, I often go out to eat (lots of different kinds of restaurants--local places I can't really log, since I live in a big city). I think this Friday I stayed home and just had chicken, root veggies, and other veggies, though.

I did not eat any "healthy cakes" or "smoothies," however.

Whatever floats your boat, but in my world, berries are no substitute for brownies. If I want a brownie, I'm going to have a brownie. As others have said, I eat what I want and fit it into my calories. Last night I had a salad I made at home with bacon, cheddar cheese, two eggs, crispy chicken strips, a boatload of baby spinach and some Ranch dressing. It was so good I'm having the same thing for dinner tonight. I also don't use food as a reward. IMO that is setting up an unhealthy relationship with food. Moderation is key, and not looking at any food as good, bad, or only for certain days of the week.
