Why are you here?

Why I'm here now, and why I originally joined MFP are two totally different animals.
When I first joined MFP (8+? years ago) I was anorexic and wanted to count (so I could restrict) every calorie I ate. And I want to do that so I could be super skinny because I believed it was the only way to be pretty. And it was a control thing etc etc etc.
NOW I'm on MFP to keep myself accountable. I've actually stopped logging all the time, but I still pre-plan days that I know will challenge staying in my calorie range and logging workouts helps motivate me to go do them. I'd like to maintain at this weight because it's healthy (and I don't want to have to buy new clothes) and I want to work out to be stronger - but it's not really about looking 'hot' anymore - just about being healthy and staying at a reasonable weight. Also, I really appreciate the advice I receive here when trying a new workout, tweaking one I'm struggling with, or getting opinions on food and the like.0 -
I'm here becuse i have a "Dream". Like all other dreams i want it to also come true.

The stronger your WHY. The better your result. Pretty deep WHY's in here so far. Thanks for sharing. I would encourage everyone to have some visible reminder of their WHY...something you would see every day. It could be a note...a picture...a vision board...but you need to stay focused on your reason for being here.0

I am doing it for my self, my husband, my health, and my future family. I am not unhealthy, yet. However I am well on my way. I love my husband so much and I want to live a long, happy, healthy life with him doing the things we love. I want a family someday and I want to be a positive influence rather than a negative one. And finally, I want to be happy and confident enough to go after the things I want out of life.0 -

You WHY can and will change...when you get your results...be it health, fitting into clothes, hitting that goal...you may decide how far you want to go...you may find new goals to set. Miles or races to run, weight goals to push, aesthetic goals to mold into. Fun stuff.

I am here because I'm just tired of being fat and overweight! I hate the way I look being overweight and I hate wearing "fat people" clothes ( the price you pay for being fat!). I used to be in shape, ate the right things and was healthy. Over the past 24 years, I have inched up and up, lost weight and gained weight. I am 56 years old and don't want the extra burden of excess weight and unhealthy eating habits anymore. All of the above will lead to bad health for sure and I don't want to go there. I started back in February and have been serious with the diet and eating healthier. My profile picture was taken the day I started my weight loss journey. I have lost 25 lbs and counting.....so I just joined MFP a couple of days ago because I think it is where I need to be to have support for my continued journey. I am already inspired by all of your stories!0

Congratulations on your weight loss so far. Wish I knew about MFP when I started...I felt so alone...trying to figure it out...but you have everyone here.
You must be deliberate in this and just decide what you want more....your WHY...or the excuse. Save your WHY...print it out...look at it everyday...it help you be consistent...and the results will come. Just give yourself time.

Accountability definitely helps...just keep doing this...

I hit 200 pounds, but not how I wanted too. I have trained MMA in the past and decided to shift my weight from sloppy to rock hard while getting some stress out punching people. The competition motivates me like no ordinary gym ever could.0 -
