Hello,
I'm planning on starting to drink smoothies for breakfast. I'd like to keep it around 1000 calories, complete with all macros. Ratio breakdown isn't important.
I do know how to make a smoothie. I'm just reaching out here to get some creative ideas on what you like to put in your smoothies.
I'm currently thinking:
Orange Juice
Banana
Pea Protein Isolate
Olive Oil
Ground Flaxseed
Crushed ice
What do you like to have in your smoothies?

I'm trying to lose, but that's not the point.
It's not hard to eat to my goal. I've got the rest of the day planned out. I just want to have a nice smoothie in the morning and I'm looking for recipe ideas for making tasty smoothies.
Mostly because I have no culinary creativity.0 -
I would recommend adding kale to your smoothies!0

Actually I have plenty of ideas to give you but seeing as I was rebuffed, you will just have to get along without them.0 -
Well my smoothies aren't so calorific but it was primarily spinach, frozen fruit chunks (peach, pine, mango, berries), water, flaxseed ...sometimes I add yogurt and chia seeds too.
To make yours calorific ...maybe add calorie dense stuff: peanut butter, avocado, full fat greek yogurt0 -
Yogurt, almond milk, any kind of fruit, oats, flax seeds, cinnamon, greens... Especially adding oats will up the calories and for me it's a great way to keep me full for longer.0

Hmmm. Did you see the emoticon at the end ? I was teasing.0 -
i make this smoothie:
2.00 cups, Spinach
1.00 cup, Frozen Mixed Berries
2.00 scoops, Lean 15 Protein Powder Vanilla Cream
8.00 fl oz, Trop50 Orange Juice
1.00 Banana
and it comes out to just shy of 400 calories. you can obviously use full calorie orange juice, and throw in flax or chia seeds, and a higher calorie protein powder to meet your goals.
i don't like using ice because it makes it taste watered down, which is why i use frozen berries.0 -

Such things don't often translate very well over the interhighway.0 -

This looks pretty good. Almost identical to my original idea.0 -

The oats are what I was thinking about. Smoothies, no matter how calorific, never seem to keep me full for long. Thanks for reinforcing the oats idea.
Do you usually put in cinnamon with whatever else you add?0 -

Almond milk (or whatever milk you like)
Banana
Chocolate protein powder (I use vega)
Natural peanut butter (add more to increase the calories.. I only use a small amount)
You could add yogurt to this or some cinnamon
Chocolate, peanut butter and banana are the bomb together !
Good luck!

Haven’t had smoothies recently, but my basic recipe was usually a small amount of frozen fruit, a bunch of kale/spinach, half an avocado, a bit of lemon juice, grated ginger, flaxseed oil, and some protein powder. Oats and greek yogurt are great additions for a heartier smoothie. Avocado is my favourite, because it makes them sooo creamy.
You can balance these ingredients to hit your desired macros. If you don’t hit the calorie target, just add more avocado0 -
I've recently started drinking smoothies
Orange and mango
Strawberry and banana
Pineapple and orange
Peach and orange
Good luck0 -
wow, i love smoothies, but I usually avoid them cuz I hate consuming 300 calories in one gulp, haha.
Peanut butter, protein powder, whole milk, greek yogurt, walnuts, almonds, bananas... just go nuts (hey, nuts) on calorie dense ingredients. You can even dare to use nutella, ha. Oats I guess.0 -
I'd skip the olive oil and throw a yummy avocado in there. Avocados are great in a smoothie. A whole avocado would be like 300 calories or so.0

I looove avocados... but on my salad or my burger. Or as guacamole (uh oh, instant craving). I've never dared take the leap to throw it in a smoothie. I understand it would be creamy, yes... but doesn't it mess with the overall taste?0 -

it makes them so much better.
I tend to do kale/spinach, berries, hemp seeds, flax seeds, and then 1/4 of an avocado and either water or soy milk.
TRY IT (if you do greens, you won't notice the avocado)0 -
hm... I'm wearily but determinedly embracing the idea. At least to satisfy my curiosity. Hehe, thanks : )0
-
peanut butter, bananas, and more peanut butter...maybe some strawberries... to get close to 1000. PB and J smoothie I also add some vanilla flavoring0

I add cinnamon whenever I have bananas or apples in my smoothie because I think those go together incredibly well. Sometimes I also add some almond flour for the taste and texture. This could also help you to up the calories (I have to watch out so I don't put too much in because even a small amount has quite a few calories).
