I went along to my local Parkrun for the first time in 3 years yesterday - had forgotten what a good event thst it.

Still, way off this month's target. Just not getting the time for my usual Sunday long run :'(

@Pandora_and_her_box how is it coming along this month? I KNOW you can do it!!!
@skippygirlsmom avoiding a loose pit is always the best course of action - good instincts! I once had one run up & put her hot slobbery jaws on my Pug/Jack Russell's back, I just barely managed to yank my dog's leash hard enough to rip her away as those jaws were closing down. I held her to my chest, stood as big as I could manage & yelled as meanly as I could "NO! BAD DOG!" & she immediately dropped to her belly & slunked away like she thought I was going to beat her or something. That is what my dog Trainer told me to do whenever in a confrontation with a big dog - stand tall, clutch whatever it is they want possessively to your chest, look down severely & sternly tell them no in as low & growly a voice as possible. Luckily you didn't have to face that dog, but if you ever have to & you don't have pepper spray they do respond to confidence & dominance in most cases. Now I carry pepper spray just in case. It was too scary for me to ever want repeated...

    5/5 5 miles Pace: S-L-O-W 12:12 :)
Um, I forgot to count my warm up run Bloomsday, so here is my updated mileage, plus according to my Garmin with all my bobbing & weaving I actually ran a 7.62 mile Bloomsday.
    5/3 8.21 Miles; Bloomsday race 7.62 miles Pace 9:23

    Total: 13.21; 102.99 to go

Thanks! Sadly, it'll take a miracle now. Just not getting enough time to run!

Only just found this so joining a little late :') Obviously because of this my goal is a lot lower (and because I'm a super beginner!) than it will be next month :)
Only started yesterday so wish me luck!

    5/1: 5.2 miles
    5/2: REST
5/3: 12 miles (scheduled: 20; left calf was not having it today)
    5/4: REST
5/5: 1 mile (meant to bike to rest my calf, but the bike room was closed for asbestos removal :()
    5/6: 5 miles
    5/7: 6.1 miles
    5/8: REST
    5/9: REST
    5/10: 15 miles
    5/11: REST
    5/12: 4 miles
5/13: REST (aka: I accidentally took a 2.5 hour nap instead of running...)
    5/14: 6.7 miles
    5/15: 5 miles
    5/16: REST
    5/17: 20 miles FINALYYYYYYY

Started out just a bit before 7, and it was 65 degrees, nice and cloudy, and 90% humidity. Got done about quarter past 10 and it was 75, sunny and 78% humidity. Good practice for the kind of humidity I'll have in Minneapolis for the marathon, but I'd love the race to be about 10 degrees cooler at the start. Fingers crossed!

3 miles today. It was kind of a sucky run, it was humid and I did not hydrate enough.

Skip ran with me. She finished 1st overall female and ran about a 25:45, she forgot to stop her watch so we got that time from the guy in front of her. It wasn't timed. I did 3.15 (according to my wonderful new Garmin) in 30.01. What a great race, so much fun, wonderful people. Love the placer medals, they were hand made by one of the sponsors. It was gold, the picture doesn't do it justice, it was also on a red rawhide cord. So sorry I didn't get one!

Got in a good longish run today. Plan called for 10 but 8 was all I could manage. My hip is still tight but felt better after the 1st couple of (slow, slow, slow) miles. Tomorrow is planned rest with possibly a beach run depending on the weather.
@skippygirlsmom - sounds like a fantastic race! so glad both you and the SkippyGirl did so well and she got some bling!!
@9voice9 - congratulations placing in your age group! That is an awesome accomplishment!
@CodeMonkey78 - congratulations on your race too! Looks like you placed as well! Also I love the excel chart! I do something similar with my stats as well - geeks unite!
@WhatMeRunning - so glad the achilles did well for your half this weekend. Great job finishing 2 a week apart!
@Wendy1Fl - Wow you are really picking up some speed girl! Great job!!

Thanks Shana! I love graphs and charts

My profile pic was from two races ago. I'll explain in a moment in my update.

@skippygirlsmom Haha, NJ humidity day-to-day has nothing on Iowa humidity... but when we're between storms, NJ does it's best IA impression! I just need to relearn how to breathe & run while in an outdoor sauna, or else this marathon is going to be torture! The calf feels pretty good, thanks for asking! I'll throw on some compression socks and foam roll it, but it didn't start to really tighten up til 18 miles in, so that's enormous progress, since it was bothering me 5-8 miles in just a couple weeks ago. Since I'll be taking it easy the next two weeks, I think it will be really, truly 100% better by race day.
