200 mile goal will be shattered this month with mileage ramp up and back-to-back races on Memorial Day.

@CodeMonkey78 Are you doing both the 5K and 10K? Or is there another race going on after CRR?

Both the 10k and the 5k.

I did them both last year, but at least this time it will not be three days after oral surgery!

What you are not running the 1 mile fun run after the 5K?

I'd love to, but my legs will be fried after both races

@CodeMonkey78 @skippygirlsmom We should meet before hand for a photo-op.

In front of the VBC? Or in front of the fountain by the Embassy?

    @CodeMonkey78 @skippygirlsmom

I am thinking on the big steps at the big sign of the VBC at 6:30.

    @Stoshew71 & @skippygirlsmom

I'll be there. I normally warm up by running from my house to the starting line. I live exactly 5km from there.

@Ohhim how weird, last year you could get a slot at Louisville until days before the race. Maybe the usual crowd is scared off Tahoe after last year's day of cancellation.

@skippygirlsmom I was just listening to a Trail Runner Nation podcast where the host said "when I realized I was allowed to walk up hills, I started to really like this sport." Preach.

    5/9: 3.1 miles (first 5k!!)
    5/11: 3.1 miles
    5/13: 3.1 miles
    5/14: 1.5 miles
    5/15: 3.1 miles
    5/17: 3.1 miles
    5/18: 3.8 miles
5/20: 3.1 miles - trial run for Monday's 5k. Treated it like a race and learned a lot...don't start my final kick too soon (I was gassed with 1/4 mile left to go) and put my phone in airplane mode so I'm not interrupted by any calls.

    Progress: 23.9/40

I ran two easy and slow miles yesterday and my right lower leg is still not feeling great. I am just going to keep resting until my 10k on Monday and pray that I can make it through it. I have heard that the Bolder Boulder course is not an easy one. I am hopeful the adrenaline of race day will help. I wish I knew what was going on with my leg. My doctor didn't seem concerned about it but maybe I should go see her again.

@CodeMonkey78 @skippygirlsmom I may have to change this. Panera Pounders are meeting on Clinton Street in front of the big flag for a photo-op also at 6:30. Wanna meet there instead?

    102 miles done/150 goal

I am trying to get in lots of hills lately since I have a trail half in 2 weeks and have a hard time getting out to actual trails. Trails are a 20 mintues drive vs. road hills are right out my door if I choose to go up instead of my normal flat route along the water.

@Ohhim - Tahoe is a tough one! I am impressed you are even considering it. Very beautiful course/area. I always really struggle with the altitude up there with just running. Thus I am amazed by those who choose to do the IM! Who am I kidding, I am impressed by all the IM folks regardless of course!

Hit my monthly goal with 10 days to spare. Still, I should adjust up to 150, but I'll play it by ear as I'm way behind on my cycling goal.

    5/2 - 2 miles
    5/3 - 26.2 miles (3:44 total time, 8:33 pace)
    5/7 - 6 miles
    5/9 - 4 miles
    5/10 - 12 miles
    5/12 - 4 miles
    5/13 - 5 miles
    5/14 - 4 miles
    5/15 - 3 miles
    5/16 - 5 miles
    5/18 - 12 miles
    5/19 - 7.3 miles
    5/20 - 3.5 miles
    5/21 - 8 miles

    Total: 102 miles
    Goal: 100 miles
    Remaining: Done

So, I went out & made myself have a sick run last night, because my poor Lola was going batty with no exercise for days. Fetch from the couch only goes so far in a Shepherd puppy's world! Once I got past the first mile, it wasn't so bad. I feel much better today!
@SonicDeathMonkey80 & @kristinegift Thanks for the encouraging words, I am willing to work hard & put in miles, I just needed to know if I was being way unrealistic. Now I feel comfortable setting that goal. So we'll see what I have to say May 2016!
@Noshesnomore Welcome, you're going to love the motivation & chuckles, and most of all the great advice the kind and experienced runners in this group are willing to give. Plus, you still have 10 days in May left, surely you can post a 10 day goal?

I don't understand why it can be so hard for our docs to listen. Runner's World has a section on the injured runner. It might be worth a look. Shin splints perhaps? Have you changed your shoes? Do you need to change your shoes? Foam roller? Resting sounds like a good start. Maybe some stretching above the pain- Quads, hamstrings, glutes, IT band etc... Good luck!

Maybe indulge in a pre run massage...

@Stoshew71 LOL! My husband use to be the "non arm pumper" AKA the fat girl run! Ugh, so funny! So stiff in his run!

Thanks again for the entertainment- I'm sitting in the docs waiting room- boring.

Hello all! I took 4 days off to wrap up our school year. Felt like it was all over. Felt like the races I have planned in July and Sept. were ridiculous dreams. But... I thank the LORD... we're done with the academic year and I ran just 3 miles today and made a new record 11.05min mile!

Walking up hills is my go-to strategy on long runs/long races. Keeps my knees from whining and gives me something to look forward to! Glad it's podcast-approved! :)

@Stoshew71 love all the videos! Today was HOT and MISERABLE, but I got it done, and I'm still on track for my 10k a day in May and my 200 total miles
