Question for people who regularly do exercises.Has sweating affected the condition of your hair?

You can also try a coconut oil (or other natural ingredient) mask. When my hair feels dry from over-washing (my fine, super-straight hair looks NASTY if I don't wash it every other day), I will do a 20-30 minute oil soak on my hair. Starting at the roots, I pull the oil through my hair to the ends, making sure to get good coverage on the tips too, and then just pin it up and leave it alone for a while.
Then I wash as normal. Seems to help restore some shine and health, but definitely not a cure-all for hair loss.
You could also try adding a Biotin supplement and B-vitamin complex.0 -
(going beyond diet) .... as someone with really long hair that i take a great amount of pride in... ive noticed when i dont condition it regularly, it gets courser (it is right now because I've not conditioned in a week or so). Because my hair is so thick, i shed like a crazy dog, anyways, but as long as i use a separate conditioner a couple of times a week and let it soak in for several minutes, it stays wonderfully soft. Also, using hair products and heat styling can affect it for many people (I don't use either, or at least so rarely it makes no difference)
and... please take a multi vitamin since you're probably not getting a lot of those micronutrients your body needs and gets from fruits and veggies0 -
Definitely take a multi vitamin. I like the gummy kind for Women (VitaFusion). I don't like much vegetables either but I like corn, potato and brocolli and cheese, sweet potatoe. You could make smoothies with fruit and vegetables to get more nutrition.
I agree with not washing your hair more often, I wash my hair with shampoo 1x a week. If I workout, I rinse my hair out with water and use my leave in conditioner to detangle it. However, I have curly hair which I don't need to dry. You have beautiful hair btw.
Forgot to add. I use sulfate free shampoo and quality products. I think it matters.0 -

Thanks for the compliment I've been buying Dole shakers to get some servings of fruits. Hopefully that's good enough. You can also try a coconut oil (or other natural ingredient) mask. Yea I'm going to try that. Thanks0 -
I have no hair.
So you have been warned.
Although it may have been missing even before I started working out.
But then again...maybe not.0 -
My hair is so thick, dry and coarse, sweating on it and getting oils going through it actually improves it. It is a big part of the reason I can get away with exercising on my lunch hour. My hair does not get oily and greasy after exercise. Maybe a little frizzy, but nothing a brush can't fix. No one can tell I ever burned 400+ cals over lunch doing cardio.
I don't shampoo my hair anymore, instead just use a conditioner every night, a deep conditioning treatment one time a week, and leave in conditioner every day. And this still isn't really enough for my desert planet hair, but it is what it is.
I haven't had hair fall out since I was post-partum nearly a decade ago. I'd see a doctor about that!0 -

Sweating has never seemed to mess with my hair. If anything I have better hair when I exercise frequently. Apparently I don't even take good care of my hair (shampoo it daily, condition it never) so maybe I'm just blessed with nice hair. People are always touching it so I'm guessing that's a good thing?
If your hair is falling out I'd recommend examining your diet.0 -

ACK!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope its not contagious! LOLOL0 -
Well that sucks. I definitely eat enough, (1500 calories per day, usually) so I wonder why it would be falling out.0

Very fine wavy hair here, and with less time with the added exercise, I shower every other day. I also add Argan oil on non-shower days. My hair is in better condition.
When I was on very low calorie diet, my dietitian warned me to watch my protein intake to avoid hair loss. Also needed for hair and nails are calcium, VitaminD, iron, and the B-vitamins.
Like someone else said, healthy hair starts from the inside. Be warned, it will take a few months for your hair to catch up to your improved diet.
Do you have Vega One where you are? It's a shake, and it comes out in some nice flavours. I like the tropical one.0 -
I only experienced hair issues when I was trying to eat a super low fat diet. I now eat healthy fats regularly (avocado and such) and my hair and nails have not looked better.0

As above said I think this is a medical issue or malnutrition... but I did find when I started yanking my hair back very tight into a bun while working out to keep it out my face it thinned due to being pulled so tight everyday.
Just while we're here though does anyone know a way to prevent so much head sweat? I have massive extentions and I can't wash them everyday.. dry shampoo and talc just aren't cutting it.0 -

I'm probably going to purchase B vitamins when it's in my budget. I just looked up Vega one , it sounds really awesome. Will probably try that out as well.0 -
Remember that B-vitamins (your daily requirement) is included in a good all-around multivitamin. I'd hate for you to waste your money on a month's worth of B-vitamins only to find out you are deficient in, say, Calcium.0

When I had extensions I had to limit my workout days. I would work out the wed, thur, friday. Get my ext washed and set on Saturday. I would dry in between my tracks as much as I could and apply some dry shampoo on the days I worked out, but like you said that doesn't really cut it. Also, the reason I took them out and decided to work on my weight first... lol. Hope that helps a little.0 -

I exercise several days a week but have always showered daily. I find my hair is more on the oily side so I don't have that issue really. But that's why I can't exercise over lunch (too sweaty & no time to shower).
Regarding the calcium, I think you need several servings a day to get enough calcium. I forget the actual guidelines but I think it's like 3-5 servings of dairy/calcium per day.0 -
Are you eating enough fat? I definitely don't think sweat is a factor.0

I don't really pay attention to how much fat I consume. Maybe you're right.0 -
I sweat pretty freely for a large chunk of every work day as well as in my workouts. Sweating a lot has never affected the condition of my hair other than to require it to be washed regularly. However the quality of my nutrition has had a huge impact.0

Don't forget that dietary fat is an essential macro-nutrient..and unfortunately a lot of people are of the impression that dietary fat = getting fat so it is routinely cut very low when people diet...don't do that...lots of bad stuff comes with insufficient dietary fat intake.
It's not all just about vitamins and minerals from fruits and veg...there's more to nutrition than fruit and veg...0 -
yes lol
go look at your reports and pull up calcium. that will tell you.
id stick to an all around multivitamin for women. i love dairy and eat a lot of it (i think) and am always short on it without my vitamin.0
