I really enjoy the "school lunches make kids fat" argument she throws out 24/7. And the king size candy bars that make people obese overnight.
She's an "idiot" who has a way better looking body, and better fitness stamina, than I do, so obviously she knows something. Also, don't forget, every First Lady is hooked up with some sort of pet project. Michelle Obama's just happens to be healthy diet and being physically active. Considering the fact that most American kids are overweight, it seems like a noble goal. Anyway, I'll bow out now, since this will clearly take a very ugly political turn and I happen to like and respect the Obamas, so...yeah.
As many other have said, having a "good body look" means nothing. I know power-lifters who are triple my size & weight and have more stamina than anyone I know. Along with good vitals per checkups to go along with it.... and they are not ripped by any means.
Kids are overweight because of the crap parents feed them at home.
Example: It's baseball night.... mommy doesn't want to cook.... so she runs through a fast food joint and buys the family dinner. Her son eats a hamburger, fry, and has a pop (not diet). Not to mention the snacks he probably had once he got home before he had to go to baseball.
Some kids in America only get food at school. That's a hard fact that can't be disputed. So taking their food away and limiting them to.... small amounts of crap, is utter nonsense.
My family has done your example numerous times on soccer and hockey nights-my kids are all healthy weights and are in perfect health0 -
She wants to replace the chocolate and marshmallows with vanilla yogurt and strawberries, thus turning a s'more into not a s'more. No thank you.

Marshmellows are easily made out of egg whites vanilla and sugar and then you bake it.. There is a mature adult homemade marshmellow... cant ban that0 -
I saved a pack of our Easter Peeps for our camping trip this week and have enjoyed peep s'mores a couple times already! They are seriously WAY better than regular marshmallow s'mores.
I may need to try adding a peanut butter cup to s'mores though. For science.
But...but...those poor, little, adorable, squishable peeps!
The sugar gets carmelized...
That's no excuse for peepicide!

I don't know what marshmallow recipe you used but my homemade ones has gelatin and no baking.
I'll never make those homemade again. Too much work and fear that my mixer would die.0 -
What kind of a psycho do you have to be to mess with something so perfect!?0

How exactly do you roast low fat yogurt over a campfire?0

I remember doing that in Girl Scouts and I taught my kids when we went camping. Gooey sweet deliciousness!

I'm so envious right now. I really want to try those. Lol. It is also refreshing to see someone on here eating processed food sometimes.0 -
All you have to do is give it a cool name, like how some places sell a chicken sandwich with coleslaw and call it a
"California Reuben"
Here in Florida there is a Strawberry Festival in Plant City every year so maybe it was called a "Plant City S'more"
people would be more friendly to the idea...
unlike Ned Flanders Nachos, I'm not eating those.

Ha just kiddin.
People mostly only make smores when camping or at a festival of sorts, and most people dont camp, so theres no need to worry there. But in my opinion, yogurt has no business near a campfire.0 -
So much disrespect and ignorance in this thread.0

Why do we need someone to dictate how or what we should eat. What happened to moderation and be responsible what you put in your body. Having s'mores doesn't make one obese over nite...

Yep. How dare anyone mess with s'mores.0 -
Strawberries were on sale this week so I picked some up and the other mixings for the non-smore (this is what I'm calling them..I'll never call them a smore). I'm going to make some and freeze them...I'll report back later with a review lol0

This is so shocking no wonder the nation is seized with this scandalous attempt at ... giving people food ideas.
http://www.whatscooking.fns.usda.gov/recipes/supplemental-nutrition-assistance-program-snap/strawberry-smoresKey Nutrients Amount % Daily Value* Total Calories 57 Total Fat 1 g 2% Protein 2 g Carbohydrates 9 g 3% Dietary Fiber 1 g 4% Saturated Fat 0 g 0% Sodium 64 mg 3%
No wonder some of you are up in arms.
We should shut down MFP instantly. After all, isn't this place chock-a-block full of alternative food ideas?

No - well I respect the idea of doing it, making them from scratch would say no. I created a soft creamy truffle center out of it - then homemade marshmallow - then dipped in chocolate. Melts in your mouth.0 -

I love Michelle's approach to wanting kids and people in general to eat healthier, but please find another name for it other than calling it a "S'more", haha. I mean it sounds freaking delish(as does somebody's mention of cream cheese and strawberries on graham crackers), but I would certainly never call it a s'more or even view it as anything related.0
-
You can take the Marshmallow and chocolate out of the S'more, but that does not make it a S'more.
A strawberry yogurt graham cracker dessert is fine. But don't confuse it with the perfect gooey hot marshmallow chocolate deliciousness.0 -
Since it's a nice day here in West Virginia, I'm grilling out and having a pit fire with my wife tonight. I picked up CHOCOLATE graham crackers, chocolate marshmallows, and two cookies and cream Hershey bars.
Goin' Bill Nye on my smore game tonight.0 -

I've seen them only at Wal-Mart in my area... check there. Or you could pay a little more and get them on Amazon. I paid like $12.00 total for a box of the old school "Dunk-A-Roos" last week, lol.
There's nothing wrong with eating processed food at all. Is it healthy to eat it every meal? Probably not... but, it won't kill you by any means if you did.
Always remember.... calories matter, not if you got it from the sea and cooked it yourself, or you got it from Burger King.
