Feeling stuck

I was officially 30 lbs down about two weeks ago. It took me about 3 months to loose the first thirty but since then It's slowing incredibly. I have lost .4 lbs in the last two weeks and the two weeks before that maybe 1 lb. I know I have been slacking lately since I am down to my "normal" weight however I still have 38 lbs to loose. Any tips to help me get refocused?

How has your logging been? Sometimes, after doing it for a while, it's easy to slack off and not be as accurate as we are when it's new and exciting.

As you approach your goal, your weight loss will slow down, that's natural. You're still averaging .4 lb/week or so.

I'd start by tightening up your measuring & logging and give it a few more weeks before being too concerned.

As you get closer to your goal, your total metabolic needs drop. By losing 30 lbs, your TDEE could be 150-200 cals less, depending on your stats. If you're still eating at the same calorie target that you were when you started, your deficit is going to shrink.

That's not a bad thing, though. You might recalibrate your target based on your new stats and you may have to accept losing .5/wk instead of a higher amount so that you have a comfortable amount of calories/day to work with.

Getting this far is a good thing, I wish you the best of luck getting to your goal.

I still log everything I eat but haven't ever used a food scale so it's not super accurate. I'm considering buying a food scale since I'm sure a few hundred calories makes more of a difference now then 30 lbs ago. I feel like with 38 lbs to go 2 lbs a week is still an attainable goal no?

Has MFP updated your calorie count? It should go down as you lose weight. Mine is glitches so I manually reset it every 5-10lbs

I have been at 1200 since I started since I am 5'1 and have it set as sedentary and 2lbs a week. To actually loose 2lbs a week I would need to net between 800-900 calories daily :/

    Yeah...get that food scale.

I can guarantee you're actually eating more than that.

With 38 to go, 2 lb/week would be pretty aggressive. I'd make 1 lb/week my goal and if you get more than that, consider it a bonus.

It's definitely time to start weighing. Your deficit is going to be much narrower, and eyeballing portions or using measuring cups can easily add about 20-30% to your totals, which can be your whole deficit.

Scales are relatively cheap, ~$20 for a good basic one. You don't need complex features. The main thing you need is a "tare" button (zeros the scale when you have things already on it, so you can add more) and a way to easily switch between ounces and grams.

I would stay away from the scales Walmart sells under their Mainstays brand. The scales default to lb/ounces, and the switch to change that is on the bottom. Extremely inconvenient. They have several different styles, but they all have the same electronics.

There's a video that often gets shared about how weighing your food can improve accuracy, but I don't know where to find it.
