Here's our new chart!
Lets keep on bringing it this week!
My goals: Daily exercise (one rest day a week) Reported here!
Drink water 8 glasses at least a day!
Plan ahead!
I have decided after getting frustrated that I don't need to read "diet" books as much as I need to read "how to cope with your mindset books" I know how to eat well. I don't know how to tell myself I don't need that or that it is ok to go without a dessert. That is what I need to work on more. I am reading a clean eating book right now--that is more my style, not so extreme so to speak. I am just sick and tired of hearing conflicting views on everything...low carb is best, or just watch your calories, agave nectar is good for you, agave nectar is full of fructose and as bad as HFCS...AHHHHHH! :explode: Time to go back to the basics!
Lets hear your goals this week!

HI all,
I'm back on track and feeling great. Today I completed P90X Chest and Back, and Ab Ripper X. I also went to the park and ran with baby on running stroller. I ran like 45 minutes and took brakes in between, but I'm happy that I kept going. Last week was a slow week for me, so my body is slowly getting back into routine. I feel great though today, and exercise will be a life long thing for me. I have a 5M race this sunday and am so excited, since it's my first race. I'm getting my head back in the studying game also, since classes started yesterday. I'm also applying for jobs still and going to interviews, so I give myself lots of credit and will be balancing all of this every day and just take it easy some times.
I'll catch up on posts, and I'm so glad that I get to share this journey with you all!!!!0 -
Very happy to be apart of your group! I am very frustrated because I am watching what I eat & almost always within my calorie goals. I have been working out more than I ever have in my entire life and yet I stay at the 153 mark......so frustrating :explode: I did do my measurement and I have lost approx 5.5" throughout....I guess I should be happy for that.
My goal is to reach 120lbs but that seems so far away when I can not even get out of the 150s  I am not going to give up! I am sore all over & loving it! I just got back from Zumba class at the gym & it is really a ton of fun....60 minutes goes by so fast! Just wondering if I am doing something wrong since I have been doing this for almost a month with only 5lbs lost?
debnu1 the book you are reading sounds interesting....I am eating weight watcher treats & snacks but I think I should really cut back even more on them....a good mindset book might be just what I need. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Crystal0 -
Debnu- I know what you mean about all these diet books out there, saying what's good and what's bad. It's just like a long list of things. Clean eating sounds like a good way to look at it, because if we are with friends or at a restaurant we have to learn how to order a good meal that is healthy, without avoiding eating out all together. For me, I've tried alot of extreme diets, and I find that I like to eat balanced. Veggies and fruits are always good, but some of the other things in moderation are okay too. I sometimes like to have dessert on the weekends like ice cream and such. I find that depriving myself is so much worst.
Crystal- You mentioned you are losing in inches, so you must be losing fat. That is great to hear! I know, we all want the scale to move, I'm on your shoes as well. I would try different things and see if it changes your body, some people increase calories and eat their calories, some only eat a little of them. You could also change your exercise regime to fool your body. Some day it's good to eat all your calories, to fool your body into thinking that you're not dieting. Honestly I was eating all of my exercise calories for like 3 months, and lost very little to almost nothing. Now I'm going back to eating very few of my exercise calories, because that is what worked for me last time. We can do this! By the way, awesome job!0 -
I have finally finished cooking a lot of food to take and put in Mom's freezer tomorrow, and I plan to head out early in the morning. I still have to get up early to bake the meatballs for lunch and pack. My sister said that a social worker came today, and they are trying to get Mom into a rehab center for a while. I know it is best, but also know that she will hate it. I am taking her to get her first epidural shot tomorrow afternoon. Don't know if I will have time to check in while I am gone or not, so everyone have a great week!0
-
Hi Everyone,
Everyone looks like they are doing great.
Deb - which book is it that you are reading. I'm attempting to change the way that I've been eating in order to cut out a lot of processed foods and things that are not good for me. Maybe a book about clean eating will help push me into that direction.
My goals for this week are to try and get some exercise in every day. On days that I don't have ultimate frizbee, I don't really have the motivation to go and try something new. I shall try to find something that is as motivating as ultimate is in order to achieve the results that I want.
Have a great week everyone.

The book is the "clean eating diet" by Tosca Reno I really like her approach. I really enjoy reading her--and get good ideas too.
I am getting a late start today. I stayed up late reading the hunger games and finished it this morning. I sometimes shouldn't start into that type of book. I don't do anything else until it is done. Awesome book though--I am going to put the sequel on hold at the library.
Off to exercise. My momentum isn't has high today as it was yesterday. My mom is going in for surgery this afternoon, I didn't get much sleep and I really need to clean house...What a day!
I'll check back when I am done with shoulders and arms!0 -
Hey all blues.
Mayra - Awesome 5M race - You'll do great, and I can imagine how excited you must be. take a day at a time, and balance is the key.
Deb - I don't have dessert anymore (ok, on very rare occasion), but I changed my mindset to have that 6th meal after dinner.
90% of the time my 6th meal is
1 scoop Dymatize elite chocolate.
1/2-1 cup Chocolate soy milk
1/2 banana
4-5 Ice cubes or (frozen banana)
Optional
- some peanut butter.
- Some strawberries.
Put in blender, and Mmmmmmmmm I have myself a delicious healthy chocolate shake and don't feel guilty one bit.
I hear conflicting stuff as well, and sometimes you have to take that info with a grain of salt and look where the info is coming from.
Crystal - Awesome job - You've lost 5.5 inches. Don't get frustrated, sometimes it takes time. Sometimes just one thing can screw up your weight loss for the whole week.
You said that your watching what you eat and "almost always within my calorie goals"..... is that including exercise calories?
Mayra - even though you didn't lose weight for 3 months, you can't deny how much stronger you got and how more toned your body has gotten. I still think it's something in your food intake. Sure, try 1/2 exercise calories and see how it goes.
Tonight is shoulders and arms. My shoulders/chest/arms are still a little sore from Monday's workout. It's that good sore though.0 -

Shoulders and arms done--well a mini version anyway. The day is against me--between prep for helping my mom and my mind being not in the game it should be an interesting day. Now it is almost lunch and I need to go eat.
Peter-- your shake sounds good. I have been using a viactiv for my treat after dinner lately and it seems to be working. If I brush my teeth after that I feel even better. I do a mini version of your shake with a frozen banana a scoop of chocolate powder and some water. Pretty tasty. Even my kids like it.
Rach it is good to see you back--hope all is well!0 -
Goal for the week. Weigh- in only on Friday and Monday... not everytime I got to the bathroom.0

Goal for the week. Weigh- in only on Friday and Monday... not everytime I got to the bathroom.
I know, I'm like obsessed with the scale, I weigh in every day. Some days when it goes up, it has messed with my moods. So sometimes I don't' weigh in..or I just say to myself: that's a fake weight showing on there. My almost 2 year old copies me and weighs herself everyday....0 -
:laugh::laugh::laugh:
I do it as well.
I step on the scale almost every day. I use my Monday morning as the weigh in. I know I always weigh more later in the day.
BUT if I do happen to weigh that night the lowest I've been, then I know I've lost weight and it feels good. I've seen upwards of 5 lbs in a day and I just shake it off to all the water and food I ate that day, or maybe previous day etc.
I noticed I sometimes weighed my least on Friday, and then come monday I gained .5-1 lb from Friday.
I sometimes weigh myself in my clothes, and then I got the "with clothes weight" that I might compare.
Ok, talking about screwing with your mood..:noway:
I weighed myself one evening just before using bathroom, no clothes, then after , step on the scale again and gained .5lb . Hellllo......... how the F&*& could I gain .5lb from sitting, if anything down .5lb ........... :laugh:laugh
That's when I just go back to, how are you feeling, how are clothes fitting, how active are you, how much more exercise are
you doing than you did before, how much more muscle, how toned etc, etc, and that gets me back in the good mood.
Don't let small things stop us on this healthy journey.
edit: I'm off to do Shoulders and arms.0 -
Peter: Here I am all ready to ask if you are about to work out, and then there is your edit! Enjoy!0
-
Shoulders and arms and ab ripper x done.
My arms and stomach are still sore from monday but oh well
So I improved with my push ups, but I went down in weight/reps in my shoulders/arms.
Something to work up to.0 -
That chart is looking great! I'm really hoping to show a loss next week!! I have lots of reading to do as everyone has been very busy posting! Have a great week!! :drinker:0

Had an awesome workout with my personal trainer today. I am sore and sweating all over but feeling great! I am eating most of my workout calories. I guess I should atleast cut that in half....I am getting better day by day! I think I will look for the clean eating book, it will help me make better food choices.
Thanks0 -
After a long day, involving an ER visit by Mom, I am back at her house, and she is in the hospital in Wichita, and when she is strong enough, will probably be discharged to a rehab facility. At the moment, her dr. is calling it a combination of dehydration and overmedication. I guess time will tell. I'm too tired to even think of logging food.0

Good morning Blues!! After yesterday's step aerobics & 4 hours of yard work, I'm happy that today is my rest day! I might get in some light gardening or maybe a trip to the park with the girls, but that's it! This morning's weigh in is definately heading in the right direction! Hopefully I can hold on through the weekend & into Monday morning!
Have a great day & keep up the great work!! :drinker:0 -
There are two other books I like for motivation: Bob Greene's total body makeover and Dr Phil's Ultimate Weight Loss Solution. They both seem to empower me. I like how the clean eating book goes into how you can make this work--strategies like planning ahead and packing food in a cooler even if you don't think you will be gone that long. That is the kind of stuff that I need.
We have all been bringing it lately! Go Team!
Mary, stressful days where you just don't have time are allowed--as long as you don't start binging on chocolate and icecream I believe the not logging is more than fine! I hope your mom is doing better! It is good you are there to help!
Lets keep up the great work!0 -
I totally lost it today and didn't exercise! I have a hard time with yoga anyway, but then I never made it to the treadmill. I promise to repent tomorrow!0
-
Hey all
I know I have not been around muck lately but I have been stuck in a semi with my dad and it is taking all my strength not to push him out the door going down the road.
My food intake has not been the best and I have not done a workout since sometime last week but i am doing a 5k on saturday and plan on traking a nice long quit qalk tomorrow by myself, I really need the alone time right.
I am not giving up I am looking at this as a challange to overcome. How to get a workout in while traveling down the interstate, but hubby will help once I get in a truck with him. Hubby will not let me eat badly and will help me stay on track.0 -
Hi all,
I'm so excited because I got the job at one of my top choices to work at. I got the news yesterday and had been on the phone all day sharing the news. Does talking count as exercise? lol. Anyhow, I start working in 2 weeks and am getting everything set up at home. I withdrew from my summer courses so I can have fun this summer and plan on taking 1 class on fall to take things slower. Yesterday I walked and stretched some, today I walked alot while running errands with baby and stroller.
Today I also picked up my t-shirt and number for my first race this sunday. I'm doing a 5M race for father's day for prostrate cancer funding.
Take care all! and awesome job everybody!!!0 -

Way to go! What kind of work are you doing?0 -
Home again from another exhausting day. Mom is now in a rehab facility. I hope it goes well and she doesn't hate it too much. We got home about 5:30, then went and played in the city band concert. Did I say I was exhausted? Now to plan a birthday party for tomorrow night . . .
I'm still too tired to log my food. Tomorrow is a new day. Meet me there, would you?0 -
msh-- I'll be working as a programmer/analyst for the IT department at a really good school in NYC.
I hope all goes well with your mom and that you can get some time to rest and get your energy back up. Great to hear you're okay.0 -
Congratulations on the new job!0

Thank you guys! I'm so excited to incorporate my workout schedule now and can't wait to share my journey with you all!!!!0

Congrats Mayra! You have worked so hard to get here! I am very excited for you!
Mary, take care of yourself! I am glad things are going alright for your mom. She will probably hate the rehab--but it is what is best for her. But then you never know--she may love it and not want to leave.
I think I have finally figured something out. I am going to try and get more protein from vegetables. Eating from the ground is a great way to be healthy. I will of course still eat meat and sugar and such, I am a huge believer in moderation of things (maybe not moderation of portions all the time however:noway: ) I have come across two interesting books over the last couple of days. One was by Dr Barnard about reversing diabetes. He claims that a low fat vegan diet can reverse diabetes because it cleans the gunk out of the cells that insulin is the key for. He says that fat is the gunk that gums up the cells and that even protein from animal sources--milk and yogurt for that matter, cause the gunk to get in there. Interesting and a little extremest to me. Another book that was recommended to me was the China Study. It talks about using more plant protein instead of animal protein too. I have realized that I get stuck in thinking that only meat is protein...So yesterday I had a salad with garbanzo beans and tons of vegies. It was so good and kept me full for a long time. It just makes sense to me to incorporate other proteins instead of meat. Anyway...Just my thoughts. :flowerforyou: Have a great day!
I skipped core today--I know Peter, I know, I will do kenpo tomorrow I promise! I have been tired and stressed and just having trouble concentrating on exercise so I will get up early tomorrow!0
