Has anyone tried bulletproof coffee and intermediate fasting? I want to try it but I'm wondering if it's a good idea or not, if anyone has in fact tried it do you like it and does it give you energy? Also does it matter what kind of coconut oil you use?

Haven't tried either. Bulletproof coffee sounds beyond disgusting to me.

I make bulletproof hot chocolate sometimes. Amazing!!

    1 scoop chocolate protein powder
    10g coconut oil
    10g butter
    1 raw egg

I'm not a coffee drinker, so use protein powder instead. As for the coconut oil, go for the organic unrefined.
And I'm assuming you mean intermittent fasting?

The above concoction does not give me extra energy, it is filling though.

The coffee is surprisingly good. I use organic raw/unrefined coconut oil, or grass fed organic full fat butter. I didn't really notice having more energy from it, but it was an interesting switch from the plain black coffee I drink. I'm not a big breakfast or lunch person, and usually pass on both so I think I would have noticed an increase in energy if it would have happened. What I didn't care for was the calorie count for the coffee since I didn't notice any other benefit. Sometimes I will add coconut oil to coffee or tea in the evenings if I am low in fat for the day. The biggest thing I had to used to about bulletproof coffee is how oily it feels in my mouth and going down my throat. It was not something I sipped, and had to immediately chase it with a glass of cold water.

You should give it a try, worse case scenario you try something new lol.

I IF a 16:8. So my morning coffee is 2TBSP heavy cream and between a half and one tbsp coconut oil. Some SF choc syrup. No butter though. Yuck. I think my version is delicious. And it keeps me humming along and not killing people until noon. I don't lack for energy at all even though I've only had less than 200 cals for hours. But I'm not going to lie and say that you should cross me between 11am and noon. I was the Wicked Witch of the South at first. IF helps me have a huge calorie bank for lunch and supper. I'm 8lb to goal so I have to be extra neurotic about calories, and doing IF helps me get through. I've dropped a full lb since I started b/c I'm good and full at the end of the day so I don't blow my cals. That time of day my "stick with it" is worn down.

But if you don't like the coffee, or find it too hard to stick with the fast, that's alright. Some tools are better for some jobs than others. Happy experimenting.

Is this what y'all mean by bulletproof coffee?
    • 2 Cups Coffee
    • 2 Tbsp. Grass Fed Unsalted Butter
    • 2 Tbsp. Organic Coconut Oil (or MCT oil)
    • 1 Tbsp. Heavy Cream (Optional)
    • 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract (Optional)

I like my coffee plain because I like the taste of good coffee.

If I want an egg or two or three in the morning I'll make an omelette with some of the butter y'all use in your coffee.

Butter, it's not just for coffee any more.

My husband and I drink this coffee only when we need to get moving early AM. It does give us both energy and clarity. We make it the way Dave has it in his book. We don't buy his products as they are too expensive, but we shop at Sprouts(healthy market) and they have everything you need.

Things Bullet Proof Coffee will do:
Add a bunch of calories to a near calorie free drink that encourages NEAT

Things Bullet Proof Coffee won't do:
    Cause weight loss
    Cure cancer
    Make you smarter
Make your high school crush call you up
Make you smell like a sunset
    Save money
    Tell you winning lottery numbers

My friend is doing a keto diet and every morning has a cup of coffee with two entire sticks of butter in it. This kito high fat thing is getting out of control.

That's 2000 calories of fat in one "meal".

Sure hope he's riding in the Tour de France or etc....

I always use unrefined virgin coconut oil when I cook. It also makes my skin soft, and it smells divine.
My grandfather put butter in his coffee and everyone thought it was weird. This is the first time I have ever read that other people put butter in their coffee.

It's a new fad which is a product of the low carb high fat fad.
