Eat less calories than you burn almost every day. Keep moving.

No trick. Just consume fewer calories than you burn off each day. I've lost 90 lbs doing it this way, with less exercise than I'd like to admit.

What are some easy "getting started" work outs? Working out is hard and I want to start doing it, but I dot want to do it alone also

Jessica Smith on youtube has quite a lot of beginner workouts.

Youtube has become a haven for bedroom/house exercising. After being used to being up and about, check out Couch to 5k! It's a great program to help people get from the 'couch', to acclimating them to run 5k marathons. You don't actually have to do the marathon, but it really gets you better used to the cardio!

And there are no 'tricks', aside from lipo. /sad

It's all CICO. Plug in your info and what you wanna lose on MFP, it'll tell you the calories to eat to. REMEMBER, don't eyeball measurements, or you could easily go over your calories! Get a digital scale and measure everything.

Your meals should consist mainly of protein and fiber. Walking is a good exercise to start with. Join a gym. Lift weights.

I have reminders programmed into my Outlook at work. Every 15 minutes it reminds me to just get up and move around a little and then every 30 minutes it reminds me to do some simple stretches or a minute or two of simple exercise like jumping jacks or running in place or squats. I sit a lot at my job so I also use a stability ball sometimes.

Start just by logging every day, it's the most useful habit to have. Everything else can be fine tuned as you go.

Speaking of which - Jessica has lots of indoor "walking" workouts, as does Leslie Sansone. These are just low impact aerobics without the choreography. Zero choreography means you can go at your own pace if you need to. Indoor walking is great for stifling heat, rain, or night time walks.

It's mostly psychological. Find out what your triggers are for overeating and why you really want to do it. Remind yourself every day at every meal that EVERY calorie counts and they add up so every day counts. Weigh daily and record a trending weight so you don't lose your mind with weird fluctuations. Understand that they happen and know to watch trends instead of your daily weight. Do fun things that motivate you, e.g. exercise dvd's, sports, gardening, whatever works to get you motivated and moving. Don't force yourself to eat certain foods that you don't like or do certain things you don't enjoy because you think it's healthy. Eat and do healthy things you love and make it a way of life.

My top three tips:
1) Eat less - weigh and log everything you eat
2) Move more - find something you enjoy and go do it: walking, running, yoga, zumba, water aerobics, weight lifting, swimming, etc.
3) Be patient - you didn't put on weight overnight, and it won't come off overnight.
