For example...1 apple contains 19g of sugar. That equals 4.75 tsps of sugar. No thanks!
It's like saying you wouldn't eat a piece of cake because you wouldn't eat 1/3 of a cup of flour or whatever.
Even so, that's not even 80 calories.
Actually, that's exactly what I'm saying. Cake has no nutrional value and is full of sugar.0 -

OK my nutritional myth peeve is people who say that sugar is bad for you and don't explain why. WHY?-1 -
That eating gluten free (products) will help you lose weight. LOL
That all people should eat carbs for good health.
and go...-1 -
"If you eat paleo, you don't have to count calories."0

Most people fail at it.
CICO as "science" is of course completely correct - as weight loss advice, though, it sucks.
In order to lose weight you need to know how many CI you are doing, you know that math thing.0 -

Assuming nutritional value means micro-nutrients as obviously cake has macronutrients or you wouldn't have to worry about eating it... What is wrong with something containing sugar?0 -

I have a strange feeling that you can offer me a special price AND an unbeatable new career opportunity..0 -
I have noticed some posts popping up on Facebook lately that irk me. They usually go something like ... One picture of a fast food burger and a soda with the coresponding prices and another picture of a teeny tiny salad and a bottle of water with the corps pounding higher prices. And the comment under is something like "and we wonder why people are fat" or whatever.
Now, I won't argue that some $0.99 burger is ideal but the area that water and a skimpy salad of light greens is somehow a meal by any standard is rediculous.
In fact for people eating 1200-1400 cals at maintenance the burger small soda AND salad combined actually make for a decent meal in terms of calories and even macros.
Blaming food, especially when referencing food that dosent even measure up to a full meal is a copout. Dollar burgers don't make you fat. Ten dollars worth of dollar burgers daily will though.0 -
nutrition myths that bug ME-
1)That vegetarians cant get adequate protein.
2)That soy gives you manboobs/infertility etc...
3)That artificial sweetners cause cancer.
4)Carb-phobia in general. Fat phobia in general.
5)Class based stereotypes about poor people (in relation to food issues)
6) whole foods are not fattening. (i used to believe this one, happily munching on handfuls of almonds/hummus,pouring olive oil on my food, and wondering why I was putting on weight with a quickness)0 -
sugar is bad/unhealthy0

Stop that. You're killing your sister.
Or something.
None of the myths listed by the OP "boil my blood". They're all pretty benign, to be honest. And fresh fruit can be a beautiful thing when it, like any food substance, is understood and kept in reasonable perspective. Just like the sugar in ice cream or chocolate.
The fake information that "boils my blood" is the BS that's perpetrated by scam artists who are trying to make a buck off of vulnerable people who are desperate to lose weight: the diet "experts" and book and wrap and pill and miracle diet secret and spirulina pushers. Those make me mad.
Thinking that breakfast is important isn't a concept that bothers me much.
The thing is, with something like the breakfast myth the late eating myth and even the meal timing myth they are all based on sound concepts. Then taken entirely out of context. Either by the uninformed or unscrupulous scammers.
All three of those I listed are perfectly sound pieces of advice... That have nothing to do with weight loss directly. Meal timing can help with either workouts or general physicality, not eating late is more about curbing un counted calories or eating calories in excess of your presumably already adequate regular meals.
Eating three square meals a day is good practice, and eating many micro meals can potentially prevent binging, the problem is they are quickly distorted from helpful advice to manage your calories and fitness to the "secret must do's" of the fitness world. The idea that if you just commit to this one wacky idea you can succeed without any other effort is a tempting thing to lots of people.0 -

"If you eat after 7pm your body automatically stores all the food you consume as fat," sadly, I believed this one for YEARS... Once I found out it was BS the weight just started to fall off.0

I just prefer my calories come from meat or vegetables, not cake or cookies. If I could be that person who stays skinny no matter what they eat, I would eat ALL THE COOKIES! Unfortunately, sugar causes my blood sugar to rise and I am insulin resistant because of my PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome). This causes a bunch of horrible symptoms (especially for a woman) like abnormal hair growth, abdominal fat gain, infertility, and irregular periods. Sugar may be fine for other people, but not for me. When so many people hate on low carb diets, it pains me because it is literally the only thing that solves all my problems. Low carb diets work. It may not work for some people but for others, it's all they have.0 -

This one's new. I often see that people can eat carbs and be in good health. Don't recall anyone saying "all" people "should" though.0
