At the end of your fast day, if you have exercised and are glycogen depleted you have lost the water weight associated with your glycogen stores.

Now you re feed on the next day and also do exercise. So you are re gaining your glycogen store plus associated water AND possibly have water retention due to exercise.

So, if you have a 3-4lb swing due to glycogen plus another 2-3 lbs due to over worked muscles I think you will get to within the amount you initially described.

    Q.E.D.

There's really not much to do. When your body has too much sodium, it adds water to fight it AND it automatically increases your thirst. So you really don't have to drink more. You will be more thirsty and can just follow your thirst. Keeping your sodium under control is the best way to avoid bloating due to excess sodium.

As was pointed out, fluctuations are normal. Happens to everyone. Not a thing. :)

How do you know it's "excess"?

I can usually tell when I am retaining water...I get indents around my ankles from my socks.

Yeah same here, and also the symptoms I described in my last post.
