MFP macros suggested are different than what I calculated?

Hi, I calculated my macros for cutting. My calories should be at 2331.85 and the macros are P 176g, F 53g, C 288g. If you do the math the percentages turn out to be 35%P,10%F,55%C. but when I enter those percentages into MFP it says I need 262g of carbs, 166g of protein and 21g of fat for 2331 calories. How come it's way off?

53g of fat is actually 20.5% of 2331 calories.
176g protein=704 cal=30.2%
288g carb=1152 cal=49.4%
53g fat=477 cal=20.5%
The percentages don't exactly add up because I rounded, but try something closer to 30/50/20 and that should work.0 -
There is a difference in how many Cals each macronutrient contributes to Total Calories, based on how many Calories per gram each nutrient provides. Carbs and protein provide about 4 Cals/gram, fat provides about 9 Cals/gram, and alcohol provides about 7 Cals/gram.
Total Cals = Cals from (Carbs + Fat + Protein + Alcohol)
In your case...
Total Cals = (288 x 4) + (53 x 9) + (176 x 4) + (0 x 0)
Total Cals = 1152 + 477 + 704 + 0
Total Cals = 2333
Percent Calories from Carbs = 1152/2333 x 100 = 50%
Percent Calories from Fat = 477/2333 x 100 = 20%
Percent Calories from Protein = 704/2333 x 100 = 30%
Percent Calories from Alcohol = 0/2333 x 100 = 0%0 -
I think MFP is bugged right now. I've been unable to edit my macro percentages for weeks now. I go up 200 calories and all the macros stay the same. I set it to 100% carb and nothing changes, etc.0

Maybe you were on a phone and didn't see the Save Changes button?

I think your calculations are right, but when I plug in those percentages you suggested, I get 143g of protein, 238g of carbs, and 42g of fat. Why is there huge difference in grams between my calculations and the numbers shown on MFP?0 -

I think it is bugged to. I've only been able to edit my macros on my phone and not my computer.
