There is no need for a detox. Your liver and kidneys already work as the filtration system for your body.

I've lost 25lbs, several sizes, fat and inches, gained strength, endurance, flexibility, confidence...never did, nor will I do, a detox. Not needed, often dangerous, and really just a gimmick.

Eat real food, drink water, enjoy foods that you like and fit them into your goals. If you've got a set of kidneys and a liver, and you pee & poop daily - bam - detoxed.

    No. Absolutely no need.
    Eat clean instead.
If you eat clean, you never need to remove toxins.
Add lemon to your water to help you digest foods more efficiently.

    Define clean eating.

    List specific toxins...

I highly recommend a detox/cleanse, OP. If you have 10 days, I know a great cleanse you can use to purge your digestive system's vessicles of latent toxic poisons. It's almost impossible to lose weight without doing that, which is what a lot of the people in this thread don't realize.

I've heard of this cleanse. Is it the peep cleanse?

That's what organs were developed for.

Aw man, I can't wait to see how this goes down. Anyone want to take bets on how long until it gets shut down?

If you are addicted to drugs or alcohol a detox might be necessary - but should done by professionals in a medical setting, not by drinking some magic potion you found on the internet.

Clean eating - no processed foods.
Some processed foods contain artificial flavors, colors, artificial sweeteners, msg, preservatives, etc.
Drink water, milk, and tea. No sodas.

57 is entirely too old to believe in magic and hocus pocus.

I eat dirty I guess because I'm not eating clean - I still have no toxins to get rid of. My kidneys and other organs work - yay!

    No, absolutely not.

And don't bother trying to "eat clean".

Both are overhyped myths. One can do more harm than good.

No, they're flaky and absurd usually pushed by those trying to sell snake oil.
Just eat well, drink water and let your body function.

It depends on why you want or think you need a detox, have you abused your body? drugs? alcohol? In some cases a week of detox can be okay. Not long term, just a cleanse to reboot...but it all depends on what type of detoxing you are considering, there are healthy means of detox.

I've lost 20 pounds of the month without doing a cleanse so no it's not impossible to not lose weight without it. If that's the case with you you need to examine your diet

But think of the weight of those toxins that are still left in your system! If you had used a cleanse with a monoglucosaccharide scrubbing process, you would have no toxins left in your metabolic ducts and intestinal pathways. Those toxins provide an excellent adhesion source for fats and other weight-bearing molecules which can completely disrupt the body's enzymatic processing. I really think you need to do some more research on bio-accumulating toxins and their affect on weight-loss efforts!

Well I'm 23 years old.... I don't "abuse" alcohol, but I definitely have my crazy weekends here and there. I have decided to give up alcohol during this process because I want my body to be at its "best". I know the body naturally removes waste and toxins from your body, but I was just wondering if maybe a little boost would help even more.

Definitely, OP! Glad you came back. You can totally kickstart your alimentary processing with my cleanse! It's quite energizing.

Right! We're not talking about getting over a hangover or a rough weekend. Medical detox in a hospital setting might be necessary to prevent death from delirium tremens and grand mal seizures. I don't know what this other detox thing is.
