What is up with some of the people on this site...
Seriously, I made a post introducing myself, and then I have people messaging me at first seeming like they are genuinely interested in making a friend and having people to talk to about their journey with them. Then a few messages in after seeming like a nice person to talk to and genuinely taking a interest in your journey they message you talking about how they are a coach for some website or want you to join their facebook group, when you check the group out they are all advertising their pyramid scheme fitness "business" trying to sell products like its some Mary Kay spin off for fitness products. Be upfront about your intentions if you do this stuff, don't waste peoples time and most importantly don't come off like you are a good person taking interest in someones transformation journey or act like you are trying to find motivation for yourself when you are really just trying to get rich quick.
If you want to message someone to simply have a conversation and get to know someone, make a friend for motivation, or anything like that then do that. If you want to sell your life changing fitness product, do it somewhere else.
Don't fall for anyones "transformation" product. Only buy supplements from a store or online at bodybuilding.com. Not from some no name scum on here. Also there is not shortcut to doing this, no magic product. Don't kill your organs and take years off your life with some product that hasn't been around long enough to be tested.
Anyways... Rant over, for those who read this whole thing, thanks!

Yeah I don't get those messages.0

I've not once had that happen.0

Yep.. Sadly the site is full of beachbody , it works, and all other mlm crap. Its all snake oil junk but they try to push it on every single newcomer.
Forward those messages to a moderator so they can look into it. Its against forum guidelines to try to sell these products and if enough people report it, maybe they will take action.
I'll leave you with a moderators name here - @ninerbuff , or @Olivia if you would like to talk with them about these sales people.0 -
I've seen them post on threads, but I've never had them message me directly.0

Yup, people who work for shifty MLM companies see MFP like its shooting fish in a barrel. It's really annoying. I don't know how any self respecting person can shill for those companies, with their underhanded tactics.0

When I was new, my inbox was full of mlm coaches trying to push their junk. Its crazy how low these people stoop to try to market their snake oil. They hope someone will be desperate and naive enough to fall for their scams.0 -
Just wait, you'll soon start to receive the pervy messages in your box, lol.0

Haha I don't think us guys typically have that issue. Sorry that you get them though. Some people are just scum.thorsmom01 wrote: »I've seen them post on threads, but I've never had them message me directly.

It is crazy how low they will go. I've also had someone basically start acting like they are my trainer after a few messages and saying I should go to their site to register for them.

I appologize on behalf of my gender. Theres a time and a place to be a perv, and really a food log site isn't really one of them.

That weirdo is a bit of a legend around here, most of us have received that PM one time or another. There's also a guy who randomly PMs you to tell you that you're amazing and you've got this. But it's the same message to everyone.0 -

It does! I have a patented monoglucosaccharide scrubbing process that really helps clean out the metabolic ducts and enhance enzymatic digestion. You'll love it!0 -

Never had any direct messages, but have noticed on the message boards pages offering relationship/love potions. The problem is as soon as the post gets blocked another one will replace it. Unfortunately l feel there is little that can be done to prevent it. If they message you directly you can block them. Ignore any pages offering services, do your own research0

I read that as monoglucoassharide. Thought your joke was on point. Then quoting it ruined itLifeonmars2015 wrote: »Never had any direct messages, but have noticed on the message boards pages offering relationship/love potions. Since I was 17 I've done the research and know almost 99% of it is just fad "miracle" products. I only take protein and casien as well as multivitamins and fish oil. Thats it. And I ignore them once they show their true motive. Just wanted to bring the issue to light for other new people on this site, especially if they are new to fitness dont want to see them get caught up in some B.S.

I have an "in" box?0 -
Ya. if I see on a profile anything about beachbody coaching I avoid them. I've had some mention that...I'll periodically get a message from some woman telling me I look fantastic. I don't reply.
I get all sorts of other messages as the others have mentioned too...just wait for them.0 -
