anything that you think is not worth the calories.
For me sweets and fried food not really worth it as i cant eat much
but there is nothing you HAVE to avoid. its all just calories. some are just more nutrient dense than others
Put it this way. you don't have to live of chicken and broccoli.
I eat everything and i eat over 30 different meals a week with foods from all over the world
ITS ALL GOOD!!!0 -

Thanks! I just sometimes have a hard time since I still live at home and have to cook meals that my family will like as well. And they're meat and potatoes kind of people lol.0 -
Unless you have an allergy/sensitivity or a food you really dislike, there's no need to avoid any foods.
I personally don't eat cauliflower, beets, liver, seafood, melons or peanuts. But that's all personal preference.0 -
I stay away from processed foods. Cook everything myself.0

I avoid gluten. I have celiac disease. I avoid meat. I'm a vegetarian. I avoid beets. I loathe them.
Other than that? I make room for the calories in a portion that fits within my day. I've been banking calories this week for a piece of key lime cheesecake for my birthday coming up.0 -

Sauerkraut. Zod, that stuff is awful.0

I try to avoid fried food. I just feel sick after I eat fried stuff. I also keep "junk" food out of my pantry. Chips, crackers and that sort of thing. If it's not around, I won't eat it and those calories add up during my day.0

Thanks everyone!0

Only one…Key lime pie. Would smash a whole pie easily.
Other than ^^^, nope, everything in moderation as long as it fits within my calories goals and I have hit my macro/micros for the day.0 -
I avoid buying cookies & potato chips, because they're empty calories and I know that if they're in the house I will eat them.
All. Within a couple days.
But there's really nothing you have to give up.
In fact, if you deprive yourself of things you like, you won't carry through with losing weight.0 -
Sugar or anything containing sugar0

I avoid things that aren't worth the calories, or thast I know will make me feel bad. I love jelly type candy, but it does not love me. I'll kill my calorie allowance with it, and then feel sick as a reward.
I also avoid crappy substitutes for the real thing, because I find that while they may be lower cal (I'm looking at you, sugar-free maple syrup), they aren't at all satisfying. I'm better off to work the real thing into my day and not end up disappointed.0 -
In my case to manage my pain I stay away from sugars and grains.0

Meat and potatoes are great. Just make sure you include lots of vegetables too.
I agree with the prior poster, though -- the only thing to avoid are what's not worth the calories.0 -

And you can eat what they eat, just manage your portions to fit into your calorie goals.0 -
I eat literally everything I ate before just less. Very meat and potatoes!0

I always avoid all food past its expiration date0

It depends entirely on what I've eaten that day and how I'm feeling. If I'm craving sugar, and I have a long history of binging, I do everything I can to stay away or keep it super controlled, like buying a regular sized candy bar and splitting it with a kid or two (I have five, it's easy to find someone to share with.)
I also like buying myself mints, like altoids, to pop in my mouth when i'm craving something sweet, or get a can of diet coke.
But if I plan on a treat, and it fits in my calories, then I enjoy it.
When eating out, I plan my calories before, as much as I can. I'll do things like picking my splurge, either a roll with dinner or a brownie after but usually not both during the same meal.
I'm trying to find balance still but so far, I'm happy with how I'm eating. Moderation isn't the most natural thing for me, so I'm trying to make it more natural.0 -
Anything is fair game but some things aren't worth the calories for me personally.0

Would probably have been better if you said that on your post then - like the poster who said she avoids grains due to coeliac disease.
Anyway diabetics do not have to avoid anything with any sugar in it - just items with high sugar content.
I personally avoid regular soda - because the calorie content just doesn't seem worth it to me when I can substitute zero calorie or pepsi max.

Cut out dairy, meat, stopped using oil in cooking, reduced sodium intake and processed foods in general...Lost 25+ pounds Most of my calories come from whole carb sources (fruit, rice, potatoes) and I eat 2000-2500 calories/day. Minimal exercise, still haven't gained the weight back (1 1/2 years).0

I don't think you will be able to find a comment from me where I expressed an opinion on YOUR diet or what you should eat (although claiming you need to stop eating vegetables because sugar is a claim I don't believe).
What I objected to, rather obviously, is you saying that people in general, like the OP, should avoid all sugar and anything containing sugar.
I'm also amused that you think (or claim to think) that I lecture others on what they should do, since our interactions have mainly been me calling you on your bad advice to others. I never advise others on how they should eat unless they ask for an opinion. Therefore, you are being dishonest and (again) describing yourself, not me.0 -

LOL. Maybe you should have mentioned that you were prediabetic then.
Also, OP asked for nutrition tips and food avoided "for weight loss." coco bee's personal medical issues, whatever they are, don't seem relevant.0 -
Hi all!
Any foods that you really tried to avoid for weight loss? Or any nutrition tips anyone could give me would be great!
Thanks!
Try tracking what you eat without altering it for the first week. You will began to see things that you might want to eat less of or don't fit into your goals at this time. Other things you may want to add. Play with it until it suits you. If you crave some thing, try to fit it into your meal plan. Nothing, yes nothing , is off limits.
I have enjoyed many of the new recipes that are on the blog page. Some I get ideas from, some I use outright, and some I alter to suit my dietary goals.
You have endless possibilities why limit yourself?
This App is a self education course I love it.
Good Luck0 -
