North Central Texas: we get severe thunderstorms with hail, straight line winds, and the occasional tornado. Drought and fire weather in the summer... Ice storms that shut the region down for 3 days every other year or so. Perhaps the occasional earth quake, but those aren't too damaging yet.0

Oh yeah the occasional straight line winds. They sure can wreak havoc.0 -
Ontario
we get severe snow storms & once in a while tornadoes , we get the typical severe thunderstorms too0 -
Florida...so we've got hurricanes. Although the last hurricane to make a direct hit on St. Augustine was Dora in 1964. So you might say we are due for a big storm. Currently in the "cone of uncertainty" for Erika. We shall see.
I suppose if I had to choose my natural disaster, hurricane would be my pick, as there is plenty of advance warning.0 -

Sounds about right... Throw in a few scattered fires.0 -
Nashville, Tennessee - dunno if "*kitten* driver epidemic" qualifies as a natural disaster, but it seems like the most prevalent irritant.0

Vancouver BC. Currently building my bunker in anticipation of "the big one". Kidding. Sort of.
Oh, and not to mention the current drought and forest fire situation over here.0 -
Alberta, Canada. Tornadoes and wildfires in the summer, hypothermia in the winter. Traffic accident any time.

Not too much in my Northern CA town, except this ongoing drought! A low-level tornado now and then, very minor earthquakes once in a while (can barely feel them). One bad thing is during fire season (like right now) smoke from wildfires hundreds of miles outside of town tends to settle in the valley where I live. It's been pretty bad this year. CA is a tinderbox right now. Come on El Nino!0

Whereabouts in NorCal are you? Is the sac in your name for Sacramento? I'm up in the Nevada County foothills...

Yep, Sacramento. Seems like every time you blink there's a new fire popping up. The smoke tends to settle in here from about dusk to midnight and then blows out. Every now and then it sticks around for the whole day. I think yesterday was our first smoke-free day in a long time. Ugh.0 -

I'm in St. Louis, Mo. We get tornadoes and severe thunderstorms.0

Do mosquitoes count?
No, not many scary things. Couple of spiders and snakes that are mildly venomous, but nothing worth getting worked up about.0 -

aren't y'all due for another major quake in the New Madrid fault zone as well? Seems like there and L.A. are oft discussed as being "over" due.
My family owns a lake house in TN on a lake that was formed during the early 1800's series of quakes.0 -
If mosquitoes are the worst you've got, Alberta's got you beat. Home of the monster mosquito.0

I remember seeing this a while ago which shows that the west coast is actually a good place to live to be the least affected by natural disasters in the US...

Eekk thanks for reminding me of that. There was an earthquake in Tennessee the other day along that fault line. Pretty scary to think about.

Just think how bad it could be if the Ohio, Missouri, and or Mississippi rivers where in flood stage and a quake (likely a series) compromised the levee systems...you could get a permanent relocation of a river channel...
