Love - and by "love", meaning the fleeting infatuation that throws a weight into the pit of our stomach...

    ...is fleeting.

if you're lucky, what comes after that is intimacy.

the deep, confident knowledge of someone other than yourself - that becomes so intermingled that you have a hard time separating yourself from your partner. it's knowing that you're going to hurt them, and they're going to hurt you and loving them anyway and moving through life as a team with common goals and a shitload of respect for one another.

it's also this song, and this video, which i've seen a million times and still DESTROYS me.

go ahead and try to get through a viewing of that without getting a lump in your throat.

"i want to learn how to love
    not just the feeling
    bear all the consequences
i want to learn how to love
    and give it all back
forgive me all that i have done..."

That feeling that makes your heart warm and your fingers tingle with the urge to reach out & make contact.
It is the sensations of falling and of flying all rolled into one confusion that eventually settles into comfort and joy or dissipates completely leaving a hollow where it had been.
When returned, it is knowing that no matter what, this person is your person, and you are now equally theirs.

The only "true love" I have really known is between siblings and parent/child. Other than that I think it's all merely infatuation until you get bored :p

Kind of like cross fit huh?
