Tom Petty + Alan Parsons Project = (same title/different song)

One is a hit, and one is a "deep track".

I had to look it up.

    Breakdown

The Alan Parsons Project version does sound familiar. I must have heard it at some point.

I Robot is a great album. I really like Breakdown, from this LP. Lead vocals are by Allan Clarke, who used to be part of the group The Hollies. He sang hits like: Bus Stop, Carrie Anne, The Air That I Breathe, On A Carousell, Long Cool Woman, and He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother. Good stuff!

And, of course, Breakdown by Tom Petty, always gets cranked up when it comes on.

    Give us another, Deckerp

    Moonshadow.

My wife and I drove to Carbondale, IL and watched the eclipse last year. It was pretty darn cool.

She said, "That was a lot cooler than I thought it would be."

    High praise.

We went to a local park. There was a DJ playing music with some eclipse themed songs. Like Moonshadow, Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me. etc.
    It was pretty cool.

Let's go the opposite direction of the last song. It might be a stretch.

John Denver - Moonshadow = [song]

I came up with a couple unrelated songs with the same clue.

Barry Manilow + Niña + Pinta + Santa Maria = [song]
Neil Diamond + Niña + Pinta + Santa Maria = [song]

    Barry Manilow = Ships
    Neil Diamond = ? ... still thinking...

Barry Manilow - Ships is correct.

Neil Diamond + Niña + Pinta + Santa Maria = [song] = Eddie Murphy [movie]

    Neil Diamond = America

I heard Katmandu yesterday and this started rolling around in my head.
All of these songs have something in common. If you don't know right off, then maybe make a playlist or give them a listen.

    Katmandu by Bob Seger
Bennie and the Jets by Elton John
    My Generation by The Who
You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet by BTO
    Changes by David Bowie
    My Sharona by The Knack

Close enough. I was thinking of Coming To America. Also, the name of an Eddie Murphy movie.

Oh sorry! I thought the Neil Dimond song was just called "America".

Stuttering songs is correct. There are probably more...that's all I could think of.
