Okay, in honor of my one of hubby's Christmas gifts and who we listened to in the car on our six hour road trip in a snow storm to Minnesota :#

I can't quite put my finger on it but ______ _________ _____ ___ / You will eventually get to this if you successfully complete the first cuarenta y uno in an on-line game...

    Indeed!
I was not familiar with much of their other work and really enjoyed listening to a few CDs. Hubby has good taste- that's why he married me, right?!? :D

Simon LeBon has such a distinctive voice.
Here's another one and my clue:

All I've got is a red guitar, 3 chords and the truth

Oh wow, okay, let's start here:
It's somewhat of an "ad-libbed" lyric line (depending on which "wiki-source" you believe), on a live cover done by an outrageously popular Irish group on their same-named album & movie released in the fall of '88.

"All I got is a red guitar
    Three chords
    And the truth

All I got is a red guitar
The rest is up to you"

That's why I don't recognize it. 1988 is after my expiration date.

U2 - Bullet The Blue Sky

I'm not sure it's correct but I now have the lyric in my head and I think that's the tune that goes with it.

Just 'cheated' the lyrics. Not correct. :(

That is a great song, lyrics-wise, as well.
"You take the staircase to the first floor
Turn the key and slowly unlock the door
As a man breathes into a saxophone
And through the walls you hear the city groan
    Outside is America
    Outside is America, America"

    HEY WAIT @RunTimer!!
I just double-checked my first guess and I was correct, although it wasn't what you had in mind.
Ray Charles & Billy Joel both sang "Georgia On My Mind" :D
