is this using song / artist formula?

cuz I'm thinking the former is "FAME" but I'm noggin scratchin on the latter :/

    Yes, song/artist formula
Not FAME, but you're on the right track with that idea.
That movie, and the song I'm looking for were both released within a year or so of each other.
I will let that sit in your collective "search engines" for awhile and check back to see if my clues need further hints ;)

Thanks for the welcome back. I pop in every now and then.

I would not have gotten this without your additional clues.

This past 10 years is not in my wheelhouse. Thinking out loud now.

    Kamikaze? It's lethal anyway.
Foreigner or stranger. They're far from home.

Maybe another clue in the morning.

For the artist, Their name is actually a song from 1967 performed by the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah band on the Beatles Magical Mystery tour film.

This is a hard one, but they do get radio play.

    Ah.
This hint made it transparent, but still had to look this one up
unfamiliar with either band or song..so I'm sitting in the penalty box ;)
(however, I suspect I won't be here alone for long.)
