It helps you lose weight as much as any other food or drink. No food or drink in isolation has mystical weight loss unicorn magic.
    Spoiler
    Apart from unicorn urine

If drank within a calorie deficit you will lose weight.

If drank within a calorie surplus you will gain weight.

Green tea does not make you lose weight.

If it did, there wouldn't be an obesity problem in the world.

It's a marketing gimmick to make you buy more.

There would be no overweight people if all it took was to drink green tea.

No. You got great advice in your other thread. Log your food, get a food scale, stay in a deficit, lose weight.

I have heard that green tea has a slightly beneficial impact, but I read this before I posted and it seems like it is really not worth it. http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/weight-loss/in-depth/weight-loss/art-20046409?pg=2

I started drinking tea the same time I when LCHF which does both keep you full while you lose weight.

At my age I like its reported disease prevention side effects. :)

    Calorie deficit for weight loss

If green tea really caused weight loss, why would we all be on here counting calories ?? Wouldn't we all just guzzle green tea all day and be thin?

No replacement for hard work. No magic pills or drinks. Eat less then you burn, you'll lose weight

Lol I didn't say green tea makes you lose weight. More as in does it keep you guys full so you don't have to take in so much calories in and eat less

It is a great antioxidant, cheap and the health benefits alone are worth it. Love green tea.

Any data to support those claims? I can't find any. To me, green tea is just crappy tasting hot water. I'd rather have coffee...

For me it is a hot drink that doesn't need sugar or milk added to it. I can't stomach black coffee. So as the colder weather sets in, hot tea of all varieties is my drink of choice.

Having a hot beverage makes me feel like I have eaten something and it takes care of the "hand to mouth" problem I have. So in that sense, eh sort of? Tea isn't really all that different than water with the exception of black tea having caffeine. But I've also been know to have mugs of hot water so yeah...I don't like being cold.

I 100% think so. It made me feel fuller longer than just drinking water (not sure why).
    - Thousands of articles on the net on how it contains ANTIOXIDANTS.

I didn't dispute the existense of antioxidants.
I am skeptical whether the antioxidants in green tea are beneficial in any way.

I hope you appreciate the difference.
Feel free to present evidence, I'm open to the science.

I usually drink a cup or two during my work day. For me, it does seem to suppress my appetite some. I wouldn't say a lot though. If I'm craving something sweet and don't have fruit handy, I'll grab a cup of green tea with a packet of Splenda or Stevia and I'm good to go!

I doesn't make you lose weight. I find it can be an appetite suppressant between meals (warm liquid in the belly, has no calories), but beyond that, nah man. It's not a magical weight loss supplement or anything. Just keep counting your calories :)
