Hello!

Does anyway practice a more holistic approach? If so, do you juice or cleanse? Or what do you like to do that helps you in your fitness journey?

Once I get a straight answer on what exactly is cleansed from me that my organs do not adequately do for me, I might be interested. Until that day happens, I'll stick to eating less and walking on my treadmill.

But I do like juice. It's refreshing on a hot day.

I do not juice or cleanse because my body cleanses itself through elimination. However, sometimes I like to have a glass of homemade juice with a meal or snack. I don't know whether this is considered holistic or not.

For fitness journey, do you mean entire weight loss journey or just fitness (exercise)? In case you mean both, I will answer as such.

What has helped me in my weight loss journey is to change my relationship with food and myself. It took me a long time to realize that no food is good or bad for me, that I can eat what I want in moderation and stay within my calorie goals and lose weight. When I discovered this forum and the tools provided here about 2 1/2 years ago, my diet was a sorry rendition of all my food fears. Not anymore. Everything in moderation for me.

What helps me in my fitness journey is running and weight lifting. Both have helped me gain a lot of strength, and the cardio increases my TDEE, which means more food on the days I exercise.

Of course, my weight loss and fitness journeys combined are what makes me a fit happy girl today! :D

I've said nothing about magic. I like to juice and I'm looking for others that do. Yet, here comes the same people asking the same questions. You have all already made your mind up about juicing. I don't want to convince you or talk about it with you. I want to hear from people besides you. There are others in the world.

@emhunter, I must say I am totally floored by your responses, given the fact that this is your original posting:

You have indeed asked about juicing and cleanses, but you opened the door for alternative responses as well. Now, you're mad at people because......?

I love homemade juice but I don't replace any meals with it. Please share your definition of juicing.

Many many years ago when I was in the throngs of desperation to lose weight.....I considered the Master Cleanse. I bought all the supplies. I got myself ready. However the idea of a "cleanse" that also involved me inducing a salt water enema daily was a show stopper for me.

As for juicing, I do like the new blenders like the Ninjas that blend up all the stuff into the juice. The loss of all that natural fiber when people get hardcore into juicing always gave me a sad. At least now the juicers have a chance to get the fiber that goes along with the juice if you use one of those suckers.

I'm a volume food person though. I'd rather eat the fruit and veggies than chug them down lickety split.

My boss does this as well, and he says the juices are delicious.

My beau makes his own homemade juice as a snack because he loves the taste and he feels an energy burst.

My friend, when he had cancer, went on a juicing campaign, because he had a difficult time keeping food down but not juice. It helped him in his recovery.

However, none of these people associate juices with cleansing.

I love homemade juice as well, but not as a cleansing agent because it's not necessary.

I've done the master cleanse! It was hard but worth it. I'm not sure I'd do it again. It was many years ago.

I have reached my fitness goals but I do like to juice. I don't use it to lose weight though. It is a nice benefit though. As I completely agree a healthy lifestyle is the way to go.

There is no reason to juice. It removes the fiber from the produce and leaves you with a VLCD that is primarily carbs. Many veggies need to be cooked in order for their nutrients to become bio available (tomatoes, spinach, carrots, and the cruciferous veggies are the most commonly known). Basically, juicing is an expensive way towards malnutrition.

Cleanses, on the other hand, are outright dangerous for some and useless for everyone else. Your liver, kidneys, and intestinal tract does all the cleansing you need. If you want to help them along, go for my "3 F" cleanse: make sure you get enough fat, fiber and fluids and your body will cleanse itself better than any concoction will.
