You can have anything - as long as you stay within your calorie goal. No food is essentially off limits. Are you logging your food? If not, log it - accurately. Then you'll be able to determine if you are "going the right way".
Good luck!0 -
You're kinda heavy on the carbs and sugars--even if some of it is fruit sugar-- and kinda low on fiber-rich nutrient-loaded vegetables. Pile on that salad!0

Okay thanks guys0

100% agreed. You can eat whatever you want, but you will need to manipulate portion sizes so that you meet your calorie goal. There's a really good Youtube video that shows a day's worth of food and how portion sizing can cause a 500+ calorie difference (I'm having issues finding the video, but it's been posted a lot on MFP when people wonder about the importance of using a food scale).
Personally, I wouldn't last on that diet plan. I feel my fullest when my meals have protein, fat, and fiber with a ton of volume (and all I see in that food plan is a ton of carbs with maybe 20g fiber, minimal fat, and a little bit of protein). If you feel fuller on carbs, then eat more carbs, but don't be afraid of consuming fat and protein if that is what you feel fuller on (fat is not the devil).0 -
Thanks I understand wat yous are saying guess I'm just scared of eating fat snd protein but take it all on board the way I was eating before this was terrible I would literally sit and eat 5 packs of crisps loads of chocolate sweets McDonald's KFC loads of crap and two days I touched a single crisp not long but it's very long for me I'm a junk food addict and about time I kicked this habit !!0

Fat and protein don't make you fat. Too many calories make you gain weight, regardless of the source. You can eat "healthy" and still gain if it's too many calories.

Eat what you want/enjoy/like to eat. Stay as close to your calorie goal as you can. Log as accurately as you can. That's it. Yes, it's that simple.0

This is a great breakdown in my opinion if you are exercising 4-6 hours a week. If not you would want to cut back. I have lost 30+ pounds and gone from 30% to 19% body fat doing this.
•1.2 grams of protein per pound of body weight, per day
•1 gram of carbohydrate per pound of body weight, per day
•0.2 grams of fat per pound of body weight, per day (increase to 0.25 if you have a fast metabolism)
Higher protein in a calorie deficit will help you maintain and even build some muscle if you work out. However in general yes you can eat anything in a calorie deficit and lose weight.

Well I'm eating half of my calorie intake to wat I was eating so think I'm going the right way by the sounds of it thanks guys0

This is much too few in calories. Find out your TDEE and cut back to create a deficit. The fast diet website has a good reliable way of calculating how many calories to eat. The one used here seems to create too much confusion for people and brings to cutting their cals too low.0

The past two days I've been having no more than 800 calories but been feeling really full and not getting hungry0

I would ignore casper's advice completely. It is not appropriate for you. And its not appropriate for most people. The right amount of protein to eat is 1 gram per kilogram of body weight, not pound.
And you should not start weightlifting any time soon. YOu do NOT need to exercise to lose weight though moderate exercise is good for your health. But if you exericse to lose weight, chances are you will not be able to make a very successful adjustment when you stop so its just better to lose weight first then you know you can do it and you know how. Exericse is a complicating factor best brought into the picture when you are much slimmer.
And so many dieter do stop exercising before they want to because they are tired or lack motivation or bored or wahtever and this ends up bringing them completely unstuck in more cases than not so don't do it to start with.0 -
Candy, The only thing I can think of is if you are really full on 800 calories you probably are not measuring them correctly. However you need to eat more than 800 to be healthy no matter what. I would suggest weighing and measuring your food to know really what you are getting.0

There is absolutely nothing wrong with weightlifting at any point. However you are right, exercise has nothing to do with losing weight. Losing weight is all calories and being in a deficit.
There is significant studies that show .8 grams per POUND is the most efficient a body can use. However in a calorie deficit where you are losing muscle a higher amount helps that. I didn't say she needed that, I said it worked well for me and has for many many people.
It's based on a program that has worked well for me and many others.. He sites repeated scientific studies on the amounts he suggests. Worth a read rather than just dissing the entire post.

OP your original post was about what you ate.. I suggest you weigh your food and make sure you are measuring your calories correctly. There is nothing wrong with proteins, carbs and fats you need them all and there is lots of ways to play with it to find what works for you. I simply made one suggestion.. Best of luck to you on your journey!!0

I do
A lot of walking and a lot riding in my exercise bike and also follow a fitness DVD so
I don't do excessive exercise just more than wat I dun previously before I started my journey and Casper I do count it propperly lol honestly I just don't feel hungry I'm
Drinking loads and loads of water so maybe this is why I'll Deffo up my cslories thanks for your advice0 -
OP, this is ALL you need to do to lose weight:
Buy a digital food scale.
Enter your stats into MFP and get your calorie goal.
Eat whatever you want, weigh the solids, measure the liquids and log everything accurately.
Eat ALL your calories.
Eating a balanced diet that includes enough protein and fat can help you to feel full, but specific macros are not necessary for weight loss.
Exercise can buy you extra calories to eat and improve your health, but exercise is not necessary for weight loss.
You are making this more complicated than it needs to be! And if you really are eating 800 calories, you need to eat more. It is incredibly difficult to get enough nutrition from so few calories. At your age, unless you are super short, you should be eating at least 1200 calories to fuel your body properly.
Please take care of yourself, and good luck :drinker:0 -
Just had grilled pork chops with brown egg fried rice and loads of salad was absolutely lovely !!!0

What you eat is not as important as how much you eat. Weigh all your food.0
-
Yep I dun that0

I actually had the same problems with the calories my first day. Yesterday was my first day and I only managed to eat like 1194 calories, and I felt like I was force feeding myself. I think this is because I'm used to 1 massive unhealthy meal instead of having a structured breakfast, lunch and dinner.
My 2nd day however, I'm ravenous. I think I'll get my 1600 calories in much easier today.0 -
Yeah exactly same here never had a breakfast lunch and dinner just ate wenever I felt like it and loads of crap lol and fast food and unhealthy crap I'm sure the less you eat your belly kinda shrinks so can fit less food in lol0

No your stomach doesn't shrink, but you do get used to eating less. And you can pretty much eat anything as long as you are in a deficit.0
