Over the past couple years I fell into the hole of under eating and not taking the best care of myself. I am 5 foot 9 and 112 lbs.
I would like to get to a healthy weight but I am very confused when it comes to calories. I have never tracked them before or have been a consistent weigh-er (if that's a term!) so I'm not sure how many I should be taking in. After my couple days of tracking I just discovered I usually eat around 1,400 but after setting up my account it told me I need 1,900 to gain. Does this sound reasonable? I hear of others taking in 2,000+ to gain, so I am a little thrown off and not sure what to go for.

Your maintenance calories is about 1750 calories/day at your current weight. 1900-2000 would be a good target for gaining weight.

Also, congrats on looking to gain weight to get to a healthy weight. From your height, you should be a minimum of 125 lbs.

It would be easy to fall into the trap of eating more heavily sugared or fatty foods. Continue your healthy eating habits, but add a bit more healthy fats, like nuts and avocado. Also be sure you are getting enough dairy. Your body needs the calcium. Good luck of getting healthier!
