Non-disappearing belly

I lost 11 kg at total so far with diet, elliptical and yoga (this was before I discovered MFP) but my huge belly stays THE SAME. It sticks out of clothes, and looks so bad.
Why I am not losing any of my belly? I look like I am 8 months pregnant.
Suggestions?

You need to go to a doctor, there might be something wrong.0

There can always be a medical problem. It's good to see a doctor anyhow, especially if you have a concern. What I found concerning is that you said you looked 8 months pregnant. Unless you are shaped like that normally, I would be concerned.0

Could be some bloating, but most likely your body just uses belly fat last.

I lose weight in my belly last. It is annoying, but I think just the way some of us are built.
How much do you have left to lose? If you are at a healthy weight and still look 8 mos pregnant, maybe then worry about a medical issue, but without symptoms, it seems a stretch.

It could just be that it's the last part of your body to surrender its fat. However, if it really is that bad, a trip to the doctor would be called for - are you eating enough complete protein for your body? If you see the starving kids in Africa with the swollen stomachs, that's a severe protein deficiency.
How much meat do you eat? If you're vegetarian or vegan, are you carefully planning meals to get all your essential amino acids?
If you think this might be the problem, don't increase your protein intake immediately - talk to a doctor because you need to be careful about how fast you reintroduce proteins into your diet.
Or are you possibly actually pregnant? I know it's dumb to ask but you do hear stories of mothers who truly didn't know.0 -

Probably not. Most people tend to see their flaws as far worse than they really are. Seeing a doctor could rule out medical issues, but most likely she just loses belly fat last, has not core stability, or has bloating issues.0 -

I eat looots of protein, I eat bacon and tuna fish every day, and possibly eggs and yogurt, too.0 -

I have around 17 kg more to lose. I am currently 72 kg, 160 cm.0 -

I will check the link, thanks0 -
It sounds like some serious bloating. Could be a combo of the foods you're eating making you gassy.
Now are you exaggerating about looking 8 mos pregnant? That's pretty significant if that's all concentrated in your stomach0 -

Not to discount your concern or the rest of your post, but I'm not sure how the "starving kids" is specific to Africa. Kwashiorkor is a global issue.0 -

With 17kg to lose, it sounds like it's just a matter of still needing to lose more fat. It's very common for stomach/belly fat to be slow to go. Slow as in the rest of you can be right where you want it (or extremely close) before it goes.0 -
Have you tried actually measuring your waist to track progress?0

I agree with those who said that you might be losing this fat last. This is the first place I gain and the last place I lose. Also, losing weight in other places my make you think your belly looks fatter than it really is. I thought I hadn't really lost any belly fat with my 40lb weight loss. Then, I put 18lbs back on over the last couple of months and I can see a huge difference in my belly. Apparently, I had lost belly fat. Now, I've gained a ton back.
Finally, if you've had kids you might never get pre-baby tummy back. I've had 2 c-sections and my OB told me that I'd likely always have extra something in that area.0 -

I can't be pregnant, I have my period every month regularly.

If you are able to do any type of weight work, you might try starting a lifting regimen. Body recomp often leads to increased personal satisfaction with appearance. Also, you can increase your core strength without doing any type of crunch, sit up, etc. Start with your own body weight at first if you aren't used to weights, then build up to using heavier and heavier weights.
Continue with your calorie deficit to lose body fat as you do the body recomp with the lifting to improve the look of your musculature.0 -

Has it gotten bigger over the last 7 months? If not, you're probably not pregnant. Silly question I know, but it is totally possible to be pregnant and still get your period. I have a 20 year old son who's proof of that.0 -

You can be pregnant and still have your period. That looks like you are either pregnant or bloated. Take a pregnancy test and start on an elimination diet to see if you are allergic to something.0 -

I think you just need to try the weight work - you need some muscle tension and it looks like your abdominals are just too used to being slack - this is fairly common. Also try some posture work - tuck your bottom/hips under yourself and pull your belly in tightly. Pull your shoulders back. this is correct posture.0 -
People who lose weight often have body dysmorphia. I know I do. I have lost 55 lbs and have taken a test and I estimate that I look heavier than I am now. If you really want to know if you look like you are 8 months pregnant, measure your belly from the bottom of your rib cage to the top of your pelvis, (fundal height) it would be about 35-37 cm if you were eight months pregnant. I am 5'3" and weigh 182 lbs and I do look and measure like I am 8 months pregnant. I also can pinch more than a couple of inches of fat on my back and under my bicepts. That extra 50 pounds of fat has to be somewhere. It has been helpful to me to take measurements to see where it is really coming off. And the slowest places are my boobs and my belly.0

This might be something to ask you doctor about.

This can be a problem even if you've never been pregnant.

Yes, work on your posture. That's a big thing.0 -
It can't hurt to get checked by a doctor. I have a friend who has fibroid tumours. Her doctor told her that they are approximately the same size as a 5 month pregnancy.0
