Now are you exaggerating about looking 8 mos pregnant? That's pretty significant if that's all concentrated in your stomach

I think you just need to try the weight work - you need some muscle tension and it looks like your abdominals are just too used to being slack - this is fairly common. Also try some posture work - tuck your bottom/hips under yourself and pull your belly in tightly. Pull your shoulders back. this is correct posture.
Okay I will be doing this. Would it help if I wear a corset? Though they make me drown.0 -

Yes, my waist seems larger than my boobs.
It isn't a question of how it compares to other body parts, but whether or not it is changing over time.0 -
Hi WingardiumLeviosa91,
Your belly won't disappear (unless you have an invisibility cloak), but you can likely keep reducing its size as you continue to lose fat. I would definitely agree with others who have suggested things like working on your core muscles, and improving your posture - this can truly make a difference to how we look! Ultimately, it can just take some time for your body to lose fat there.0 -

It is not changing for 1 years at least0 -

I think I will also start doing pilates...0 -

Also, losing weight in other places my make you think your belly looks fatter than it really is. I thought I hadn't really lost any belly fat with my 40lb weight loss. Then, I put 18lbs back on over the last couple of months and I can see a huge difference in my belly. Apparently, I had lost belly fat. Now, I've gained a ton back.
Finally, if you've had kids you might never get pre-baby tummy back. I've had 2 c-sections and my OB told me that I'd likely always have extra something in that area.
That last bit is not exactly true
Usmcmcp has 3 children iirc and she has an amazing, really worked for it hard, physique...she also started the stomach thread up thread
I've had 2 children by section and mine is pretty good I think ...it just takes effort0 -
Posture and core strength can make a big difference to the look of your belly.

Have you actually measured it at all?
And again, you still have 17kg, or around 37 pounds to lose. Your stomach is going to be bigger than you want it to be at that size.0 -

Due on or on your period, or ovulating?
Do you have food intolerances?0 -

Relaxed. I will have my period in 2 days, but my belly always looks like this.
I don't think I have food intolerances, though I never had a test on it. I just have thyroid, if it is related.0 -

You can be pregnant and still have your period. That looks like you are either pregnant or bloated. Take a pregnancy test and start on an elimination diet to see if you are allergic to something.
I did take a pregnancy test during summer because my period was late, it was negative... How does food elimination is done?0 -

Hmmmm... You look bloated to me. I see more paunch than rolls which indicates bloat to me. I would see the dr also... Just to be sure.
I know if I eat the wrong foods and push my stomach out I will probably appear
6 months along myself.
As a young girl my grandmother always instructed me to hold my abs tight and now it's second nature. This has helped my stomach bounce back from a twin pregnancy that resulted in diastasis recti.
Try that and see if that has an impact on the preggers look.
Good luck!0 -
Do you have diastasis recti? It is a separation of the ab muscles usually due to pregnancy. You can't diet it away- you need to knit those ab muscles back together. DR is very common after pregnancy and typical ab exercises like crunches make it worse. (ETA: Just saw you don't have kids- I assumed you did because of your profile pic- but it can happen even without pregnancy.) If you google, you can find how to evaluate your belly. Basically you lay on the floor, lift your head, and feel the middle of your belly near your belly button. If you have a gap between the muscles, you will feel it. 1-2 cm is ok, but bigger is a problem.
I saw a good lady-bits PT (which included lots of internal vaginal exercises, cough, to retrain my inner muscles), then progressing to my ab muscles. Finding a good women's health PT is hard, I had to drive an hour. After insurance it cost 20$/session.
It is very hard to find DR-friendly exercises free online. I also paid for the MuTu (stands for Mummy Tummy, lol) system. It is 12 weeks of exercises to fix your DR. So far from what I have seen it is similar to what my PT had me do.
Google Katy Bowman, too. She is the alignment guru for DR. Some of her stuff you have to pay for, but some is free. I don't think she has any exercises to fix DR, but incorporating her alignment stuff will help.0 -

I am at the gym cycling right now and I try to tuck my tummy in like everyone suggests, but it is so difficult my belly resists it and gets the old pregnant shape in few seconds0 -

multiple people suggested I could have DR so I will definitely be seeing a doctor on this topic. And start doing belly exercises to have stronger musclea in the area.0 -
You may be losing more muscle than fat. Make sure you are getting adequate Protein to preserve muscle so most of your weight loss comes from fat....0

Abdominal exercises MIGHT help, but you really need to strengthen your entire core. You do this through full body strength training. Things like squats, deadlifts, overhead press and many single arm/leg exercises force you to engage your core for stability.0 -

No. Do the strength work, don't wear anything to hold your belly in. Learn to stand up straight and hold your belly in, with natural good posture.
I don't think you have tumors, or anything else is wrong with you, I just think you are completely relaxing your abdominal muscles with poor posture in the picture.
I had 7 fibroid tumors in my uterus and my abdomen was nearly as flat then as it is now. (and I've had two children)0 -

OP - I would see a doctor to make sure everything is fine. However, your picture looks like you may be bloated. Normally my stomach is flat, unless I'm having tummy issues then I can bloat to the point that I look 7 or 8 months pregnant. I try to avoid foods that cause that reaction lol. I have found that refined carbs, dairy, and a lot of protien will do it me. I actually keep a pair of size 6 trouser (normally wear a size 2) for when I am bloated, because I can't fit into anything smaller. Good luck - I hope everything is okay!0 -
Great job losing. Keep doing what you're doing and it will come.0

I agree with seeing a doctor. That is how my tummy looks when I eat too much wheat or soy. I have a non-gluten wheat allergy and am also allergic to soy0

there are no specific moves to do to 'shrink your belly'. it's not possible to spot reduce fat. Remember the blogs are just writings posted by whomever chooses to post there, and aren't verified by anyone. Eating in a calorie deficit will result in losing the belly fat eventually.0
