Can anyone help me? I'm 179.2 pounds. I have a trip to China to go next year in July with friends and really want to reach my goal before then. My goal is 110. I can't go to the gym because of my social anxiety. I was wondering if anyone has at home Excercises I could do and a diet plan of what I should eat. I was thinking about eating kimchi too because I read it would help you lose up to 11 pounds a month. After the trip to China I would like to main rain that weight too. I'm want to be more healthy.

You can eat whatever you want, just eat at a calorie deficit. If you aren't sure how many calories that is, try entering your stats and goals into MFP and eating at that goal. Kimchi won't help you lose weight although you can certainly eat it if you want (just make sure you log it).0

How tall are you? All you need is to eat in a calorie deficit. 11 pounds a month is too aggressive, anyway.0

You have social anxiety but you're going to China?

Going to the gym will help you get better at talking to people, seems like going to the gym will help you with two goals you have.0 -

Walking is great exercise. I'm not sure if your anxiety keeps you from going out, but it's a fantastic way to begin getting more active. But a calorie deficit is what will generate weight loss. Exercise is good for fitness and it can be a good way to help create a deficit, but what you eat will be more important than exercise.0 -

True. But the only diffrence is I'm going to China with friends. I can't go to the gym alone. Especially with a lot of people because then my anxiety attack with kick in. I ask my friends to come with me but there always busy.0 -

YouTube has many exercise programs that are free. Netflix also has some. Or you could buy DVD exercise programs.0 -

So go to the gym when they go to the gym. I know it sounds simplistic, but living a life where you can't go to a public place seems very limiting. Are you in therapy or medication for such debilitation anxiety?
I mean, don't get me wrong. I HATE going to the gym alone. But you know, I suck it up sometimes. Not saying you can, I'm just saying if you can't, have you considered CBT?0 -

Maybe try Fitness Blender or Leslie Sansone videos on YouTube. They are good for Beginners to more advanced. Both exercise and inside walking routines. Best wishes0

Go to the gym with friends.
Also you don't have to talk to anyone at the gym. That's what I use headphones for.0 -

@ASKyle just walk around the gym with your ILS and your shades on, I see how you are. Quit flexing in the mirror too, that drives me nuts!-1 -

ILS? I believe I am misunderstanding your attempt at humor, or dig at me.0 -

Working out at home can be easier and cheaper. I just hear someone say they CANT go to the gym due to anxiety and I get worried they're not being treated for their debilitating levels of anxiety. Some of us here are mother hens.0 -

I think you misunderstood. Saying "some of us here are mother hens" is an explanation that some posters are trying out of concern (as a mother hen might feel for her chicks) to address what they see as the underlying issue--"debilitating levels of anxiety." I highly doubt that poster was trying to one-up you in a contest of over who's life is harder.0 -
When I went to the gym, I never talked to a soul. I did my workout and left.0

As someone who suffers from social anxiety, the whole "you don't have to talk to anyone!" part doesn't really apply. Even if you aren't speaking to people, anxiety can crop up because you're afraid that people are judging or mocking you. It's not nice.
OP, maybe a beginner's bootcamp sort of thing might be helpful? Then you're working out with other people of a similar ability level. Could be a good smaller step on the way to going to the gym regularly!
Alternatively, YouTube has some great exercise resources these days. I'm especially fond of Yoga with Adriene. I've also heard good things about Fitness Blender, but I haven't tried it.0 -

I use Yoga with Adriene videos every night before bed and after I wake up in the morning. I love it!0 -
I don't like going to the gym either looking the way I do. But you know the truth? Everyone there is so concerned with what THEY look like that they won't even notice you exist. I can't go to the gym because 2 year old. So I got my happy butt on craigslist and got a treadmill to keep in the house. If you are more for the strength training, get on Pinterest and search under health and fitness (or get on Pinterest because it's just awesome in general) and you can find some really great circuits made up like infographics with how to's and everything. The one I'm using is my own body weight only, and when you're heavy that's just fine.0

Let me restate that. I CAN go to the gym. I actively choose not to do so because I want to save gas for other things and I like to have the flexibility to work out whenever the hell I want instead of when the gym nursery is open or when my husband is home (which during school season is only m-w-f.0

The goal of a gym is for them to make money with as few people attending as possible. The more people who actually use the machines the more they have to replace them and the more expensive the gym is to run.
Exercise: Bike. That is pretty much all the exercise I do at the moment.
I would also recommend body weight exercises for toning and helping slim down.
Scales: Buy a set for your food and forget about yours. Something I have learned over the last couple of months is that the best indication is how your clothes fit. I only weigh myself once a month.
Food: Think of calories like money. You have so much to spend on food. Having said that just eating at a deficit isn't really enough. I could eat 1200 calories of chocolate and probably won't lose weight (Plus I would be sick).
I have actually stopped counting calories (But it is a great way to start), I am now just reading labels to see the nutrition content of food.
Having said that - reduce the amount of packaged food you consume.
So my actual point is spend your calories on good food with an occasional treat.
A further point is change doesn't happen over night. So slowly cut out bad foods. I would say one every week. Start with something easy, like I found it easy to stop eating lollies.
Feel free to message me and we will have a chat0 -
I should probably also clarify that I don't pay for the gym per say...... it comes out of my hoa dues, its just something you pay quarterly to make sure your neighbor paints their fence, and with the excess, there are four "recreation centers" you gain access to by being part of the hoa. So I have to shell out for it whether I use it or not is what in saying. Maybe you'd feel more motivated to go if you were spending your hard earned money on it by choice?0
