Feel free to add me. There was a new study just published that confirms low carb is the way to make weight maintenance work. They compared a balanced diet, low carb and low fat.

Just a little update...3 days ago I felt I had reached a stalemate and was not losing and now I have lost 2.5 more pounds in 2 days so hang in there!
The weight loss is not linear (that's why I shouldn't weigh every day) and it's so disappointing when you are so good and yet the scale don't move.
I think if you follow the rules you can't go wrong

    Hi i'm a low-carber for LIFE

refined carbs do not do my belly any favours so i've reduced my intake drastically, its not a diet in the sense that i'm doing it to lose weight, per se, it's a lifestyle for me now. If i eat bread my breadbaby gets bigger (scarily quickly and disproportionately large).

It was pretty hard to begin with as i was addicted to all things bread and pasta, but once i got used to not having bread, pasta, rice, tatties, crackers etc and finding substitutes for all of them i'm very pleased with all the different foods i now eat. If i do eat refined carbs they're non-wheat (not gluten free) and in small quantities.

It's hard, not impossible. I don't follow a particular diet (like the atkins) i just draw from the idea.

Vegetarian sites are good for finding different high protein foods to eat instead of meat, or dishes that don't use meat at all but taste the same regardless, if you don't want to eat meat for every meal. Specially if you're like me and only like cow, chicken/turkey and pig.

I find that the substitutions people have found for everyday foods brilliant, tasty and far more nutritionally beneficial than the originals. such as celeriac or swede (i call them neeps) instead of chips/fries or mash. cauliflower rice, courgette instead of lasagna sheets. oopsie/cloud bread instead of normal bread. It's also halved my food bill and my portion sizes, i used to eat like a 6.6 man who played rugby professionally, i'm a 5'6" girl who sits on her *kitten* at work for 8 hours.

I train 6-7 days a week, 5-6 days at high intensity, on low carb i don't get the 3pm sleepies at work and i have far more energy that i ever did eating pasta, sarnies and baked tatties.

good luck. We're all here if you need more ideas and info and support :D

Hi All, found a lot of low carb friends on this thread before and have learned a lot by watching your diaries and progress. I would love to find some more low carb friends with OPEN diaries, it really helps to see how others are doing it!

Hi all! I added several of you. Working on research and planning, but starting a significantly lower carb diet by next week. My doctor recommended it - thyroid and PCOS issues. Lucky me!

Hi I am following a Low Carb eating plan also. My goal is to stay between 30-50 carbs a day. I am loving it! I'm trying new recipes. I'm new here and don't know my way around yet. How were you finding other Low Carb dieters and viewing their open diaries? I'm interested in seeing what other s are doing. I will try opening mine. I tried a new recipe last night and it was great! Cauliflower "potato" salad! Loved it so much I had 2 helpings. I added it to my recipes but not everything such as spices. I will gladly share the whole recipe if anyone is interested.

Hi.... I stick on a lower carb intake diet.... I'm type 2 Diabetic and have to have a minimum of 45 carbs per meal, max of 60 to keep my blood sugar stable. I'm sticking to the lower end in order to help with my weight loss. I signed up on MFP yesterday, but have lost 14lbs since the beginning of the month!!! Feel free to add me

WOW So good to see so many low carbers on the site!!! I am also type 2 Diabetic....I personally TRY (I've fell off the wagon lately trying to get back on!) to stay at 6 12 12 (breakfast lunch and dinner) that is the Dr Bernstein way. It really helped me get my diabetic numbers in control! If anyone wants to add me, feel free. I really need to get back on track!!
