    Oh and ice cream

    Ice cream makes everything better

Actually, I found that a high fat meal together made it a little better lol.

Yeah, the lack of fat in VLCD's (like Lyle's rapid fat loss plan can be) tends to leave a person low on fats to make sex hormones, and crashing their level is usually going to affect sex drive. Getting fats (saturated in particular I believe) should be helpful.

Go to dinner. Have some steak. Buy her chocolate. Spread roses on the bed. Light some candles. Whiseper in her ear. Get the job done.

I find it fascinating that we adults can talk about bowel movements and menstruation, but apparently are not comfortable discussing sex, in a thread about a lost libido, no less.

Maybe we all have a good attitude towards menstruation.

Seriously. Our hormones need enough fat and oils.
Drop the carbs and sugars. Keep the protein and fats.

If we're combining discussion of all 3 and sites that discuss them in a related way, I'm abandoning thread.

I find it fascinating that you think that your preference in web sites relates directly to the topic. A generic conversation about sex is one thing. Personal preference is another, and isn't really helpful to the OP.

We get that you like sex KK. Frankly, it's just TMI that you make a point of oversharing whenever you get the chance, especially when it's extraneous to the conversation.

I had to come back to this thread because it's been on my mind too. I hope this isn't over sharing or TMI, but...it's back. OP, I've been reversing for about a month or longer (and have gone into a surplus as well). My fat intake went from being around 20g per day to the proper .35g per pound of body mass. I actually didn't realize how bad it was until something clicked back. It really goes beyond sex.

Did Lyle ever respond to you?

Here's the thread on Lyle's forum with the question and his response: forums.lylemcdonald.com/showthread.php?t=31300

Well I'd have to say this is another case for losing weight in slow sustainable ways. If the alternative is men looking for drugs to fix it, or women dropping the diet, maybe this is another good indicator of why things should be done in moderation.

I second the opinion to leave a review on the Amazon site so that future shills are duly warned.

FWIW, Lyle McDonald isn't a huckster. He's very clear up front that the RFL is an extreme diet involving a huge deficit. He also specifies periodic free meals, refeeds and full diet breaks (eating at maintenance) as part of the protocol - which people desperate for quick results may be prone to avoid doing.

I'd second the recommendation to contact Lyle on his support forum. He has a sub-forum specifically dedicated to RFL and regularly answers questions there.

It just sounds like low calorie Atkins to me.

Except that Atkins doesn't prescribe free meals/refeeds and full diet breaks along the way. Atkins also doesn't provide specific guidelines for transitioning back to maintenance calories and/or a more moderate fat loss diet. The RFL isn't intended to be a sustainable long-term WOE in and of itself - it's for rapid fat loss while sparing as much LBM as possible in the process.

I was left confused after reading this thread so I went to do some research on this diet. I had not even heard of it before now.

After researching...I am still confused. VLCDs are often condemned here on MFP unless under a doctor's care. Lyle McDonald is not a doctor.

Here is one bit of information that concerns me...

    http://forums.lylemcdonald.com/showthread.php?t=1970

    Excerpt..

In the first edition of this book, I said that rapid fat loss dieters could eat essentially
unlimited amounts of fibrous vegetables and I want to amend that slightly here by giving
readers a quick reality check. On the one hand, it’s unlikely that most are going to
consume such a massive amount of fibrous vegetables that they will contribute a huge
number of calories. But it can certainly happen. At the same time, I don’t want to put
some sort of arbitrary intake value or number since this only adds an unneeded level of
complexity to what should otherwise be a fairly simple diet. A couple of examples should
    help to make my point.

Consider a light female who only be consuming 400-500 calories per day on the rapid fat
loss plan. If she went nuts with fibrous vegetables, eating several cups of the above at each
of her four meals, she might easily add over 200 calories to her diet; that would represent
nearly 50% of her daily intake, cutting her daily deficit (and fat loss) considerably.
Contrast this to a large male who might be consuming 800-1000 calories (or more), that
same vegetable intake might be absolutely fine.

My point is not that you should automatically limit your vegetable intake; I strongly
suggest you consume some at each meal to keep you full, etc. At the same time, don’t
abuse vegetables to the point that you derail the diet and reduce (or eliminate your
    supposed deficit).

    xxx

I am not sure how long he recommends eating at these levels but 400-500 for a light weight female...800-1000 for a male...for any length of time seems incredibly low.

Oh please. Rabbit mentioned "Sex toys, Lube, And a whole heap other sites" which I assumed was a reference to porn sites, the enjoyment of which is not universal, including by me.

I've talked about sex in a birth control thread and in a TOM thread after several people mentioned sex during TOM first. I've offered suggestions for someone who was uncomfortable with her body during sex. I'd hardly classify that as "oversharing whenever you get the chance" and "extraneous to the conversation."

I lost my libido trying to cut my last few pounds before a bulk. I assume it was a combination of low fat intake and obsession with training. I've been reversing for the past month and it's already better. You guys will be fine.

The whole fat hypothesis is one Lyle mentioned previously and which makes sense to me.
Often on a PSMF fat is really under cut and people don't take the supplements consistently.

Get those fats back in your diet.
