Had on of those rare, terrible runs today. Went out when I wasn't feeling well and felt terrible the entire time, like I was going to get sick. I wanted to get it in since I won't be able to run on Tuesday but I really should have rested. Feeling ok now and managed to get through agility class with some tough courses and lots of running.

@_nikkiwolf_ - so sad about your glove! I found some that clip together when you aren't wearing them and I use that clip to attach them to each other and to me so I don't lose one.
@ohhim - Congratulations on the awesome 5k time!
@juliet3455 - love the idea for @kareF to have a tat over the scar of a runner going uphill! I think it would be awesome.
@ddmom0811 - welcome back. I am glad the wedding went well and you got some runs in too! Also awesome new profile picture - you look terrific!
@ceciliaslater and @5BeautifulDays - Hobbes the Vizsla runs almost all runs with me, even the long ones. For him it isn't even really a workout running with me. He can run really really fast for a long time but he is also built to run and he is only 3 so he has lots of energy to burn off.
@Elise4270 - depending on the type of pie it could be satisfying multiple food groups and macros and that is healthy, right?? Also I told my trainer a long time ago when I started this journey - I am not giving up wine, chocolate or coffee so we will just have make it work including them :)

    Date..........Miles.........Total
    12/01.......4.20..........4.20 - + Strength Training
    12/02.......3.55..........7.75
    12/03.......6.81........14.56 - + Strength Training
    12/04.......0.00........14.56
    12/05.....12.07........26.63 - Birthday run!
    12/06.......0.00........26.63
    12/07.......5.17........31.80 - + Agility

@kareF Glad to hear the margins were clear. Noticed the small Tat/Ink on the base of your neck. Maybe at sometime in the future when the scar is no longer tender get a Tat over it - Runner on an Uphill slope with a small heart at each end of it?
Edited too add : Of course your Doctor might not like anything that could interfere with future exams.

Funny that.. I am starting to regret my tattoos! Eep! They are all symbols of life events, of course, though I am super paranoid that there might be something under them that I cannot see now. My doctor has never liked them.. I think he would have a heart attack if I came in with more

    Dec 1 - 2.64
    Dec 2 - 5K
    Dec 3 - 1.4 streak
    Dec 4 - 5.16 miles
Dec 5 - 4.16 miles - Savannah! Wish I had more time because this was the best run ever.
    Dec 6 - 5.5 miles
    Dec 7 - 1.1 streak
Dec 8 - 4 miles; awesome morning run! It was 55 out - and if it was humid I couldn't tell. Unfortunately needed to head home earlier than planned due to bathroom necessity. Hate that! Watching my son's dogs while they are on their honeymoon so I need a little more time in the morning anyway, so it worked out.

@ohhim - awesome on your 5K earlier this month and that you figured out a way to do 20 without it seeming like 20. Well, I guess you shall see.

@shanaber - thanks, wedding was perfect. I look so tiny in that picture but my son is 6'7" so I look tiny next to my daughter and him. Still trying to catch up from being away from school for a field trip 3 days and the wedding. I am on the same plan as you - get healthy but do not give up wine and chocolate! I don't like coffee but I think I make up for that in the first two. What I did give up when I decided to get healthy was diet sodas. I was a serious addict. For years I had tons of headaches. I thought I was needing another diet dr pepper to cure the headache and it was an endless cycle. I quit cold turkey one day and the headaches stopped! I am not against diet sodas for other people - especially if one can just drink a few day. But I was having anywhere from 6-8 cans a day. For me, it was one of the best things I ever did. My kids both used to bug me all the time about quitting and when I finally did they couldn't believe it. They'd grown up with mom always having a diet dr pepper in her hand.

    2/7/16 - Daytona HM

@kareF When I posted this I thought of the symbolism - you beating Melanoma = Runner on an Uphill slope with a small heart at each end of it?
Then realized that it might be in-appropriate and that your doctor might not be happy with ink over an area where you have had treatment so that's when I did the edit =
Edited too add : Of course your Doctor might not like anything that could interfere with future exams.
You came back with the same comment about your doctor not liking tats and your worry that they might be hiding something.
Woops me bad - my heart was in a good place when I wrote it.
I like your new profile image.

16-Apr: Running for Ronald 5K or 10K, Macon, GA
04-Jul: Peachtree Road Race 10K, Atlanta, GA

So. The Reindeer Run 10K. Apparently the crew that was hired to run it for the charity didn't know what they were doing, or something. The course was 5.58 miles (so about 0.6 miles short), and the chip timing was off (at least for the 10K folks that I've heard from - not sure about the 5K folks). Oh well.

I knew I was doing the 10K later, so shortened my usual 10K with the Saturday group to 7K. Still planning on a HM next fall, even tho all my run-buddies are saying why not go ahead and do the Museum of Aviation as a half. I'm pretty sure I could do it, with a reasonable time (since I'm doing 30-37 miles/week now), but I just feel like I need to execute a real training plan, since my last few "long runs" of 15K+ have been split up into a couple of efforts over a couple of hours.

Or maybe I'm just a chicken.

I f you are running 30-37 miles per week, you almost certainly can be ready for a HM by January. Just get in a few solid long runs between now and then and you will be fine!

Oh yeah. They were Irish car bomb cupcakes that I made on St. Patty's day. Chocolate Guiness cake filled with a Jameson chocolate ganache and Baily's frosting. They were stupid! And fun to make, as you might imagine ;)

12/2 - 3 miles at 4:15am, I am tired but glad I got out as it is supposed to be a rain/snow mix tomorrow. Good start to the month. :)
12/5. - 3 miles. Getting faster but still working on cutting out the walk breaks.
12/7 - 1.5 miles. I tried my hilly park run and it was too much. My piriformis was complaining on the first down hill so I made it one loop instead of my planned 2 and quit. I gave it a good stretch and a cold shower when I got home and it is good today.

    7.5 down 17.5 to go

Still playing with the idea of doing the Santa Hustle 5K on 12/20. I know I can make the distance it will just include walk breaks but not sure if I want to do it. I don't like walking in a race and I feel like I should be farther along in getting back my old fitness level, I also know I will push my pace more then I have been in training runs which may not be a bad thing and the course is flat and I have run it before. I need to decide by Friday so I can get the day off work so I guess I will see what the rest of the week looks like.

I just printed off the recipe... it says 40 minutes prep time. That cannot be right. With all that booze, by the time I got to step 3, I would probably have forgotten what I did and would need to keep starting over. And by the time they were ready to be frosted, I would probably just say screw it and dip the cakes in the frosting bowl as I ate them.
