    Dec 1: Advent begins. Light mist but warm (low 50s), still a little bit of hip twinge, nice and slow this morning, 4.44 miles.

    Dec 3: Rest day, however, intended to walk..and it didn’t happen 

    Dec 12: 4.72 miles in my new shoes but I kept 'em (mostly) clean
    Dec 13: Rest day (intentional..not just being lazy). Still minor hip twinges but I’ve been doing more stretching and that seems to be helping. I probably need to bite the bullet and start doing core muscle building though. 

    12/26: 4 miles on the dreadmill
    12/27: 11 miles
    12/28: Rest
    12/29: 4 miles

    We had snow/sleet all day yesterday, so this morning was a toss up between the dreadmill and toughing it out outside. I decided to go outside and managed to get my scheduled 4 miles in; had to take it really slow since I didn't want to fall on my butt, and I managed to stay vertical despite some slick over-plowed spots. Overall though, it was a good run. My hamstring wasn't pleased with all the slipping, but it's good practice for what's bound to come (and continue coming) all winter. Hopefully the roads will improve today and my longer runs later this week won't be so trecherous.

    And hey! 100 of 100 miles today! Hooray! Taking a week off earlier in December, I wasn't sure I'd make it, but getting back to 30-40 mile weeks the second half of the month helped make up the gap.

    Oh and PS! If anyone is looking for more winter gear, I just got a great neck warmer from Amazon. They have women's styles and men's styles, and they're pretty cheap; I wore mine today and it was comfy and warm and didn't get soaked through with sweat in 20 minutes. I wore it around my neck most of the time since I was wearing a crew-cut long-sleeve, but when I ran into the wind, I pulled it over my mouth and nose to keep my lungs from freezing. Highly recommend this or any neck warmer for those who don't have one! :)

    It has been over a week since I have checked in here. I have run a whole 6 miles since then! It's okay. I promised my hubby that I would put running on the back burner the week of Christmas and make friends and family my priority. It's only right, since I spent the better part of 2015 focused on running. And it's amazing to me how you can find time to run when you want/need to, but if it's not your priority, it's easy to let it slide to the back burner. Aside from helping me to remember the importance of family and friends, this week also served as a good reminder of why I run. I feel like a bloated, lazy blob! I am looking forward to getting back out there, although we have dinner plans with friends tonight and tomorrow, so I won't likely hit any significant miles until Thursday. Total for the month so far: 80.3 (42 shy of goal). Looking forward to January!

    Haven't been on since last Wednesday. Will have to catch up later.

    12/1 - 4 miles on indoor track + 4.5 miles on stationary bike
    12/2 - Took my rest day early. Weather is supposed to be way better this weekend, so planning to run long(er) than usual both days.
    12/3 - 5.09 miles on treadmill (Trek class)
    12/4 - 4 miles on indoor track + weights/abs
    12/5 - 5.5 miles (I think)...my phone / GPS crashed after about 4, so I lost my distance and time
    12/6 - 3.1 miles on small indoor track
    12/7 - unplanned rest day
    12/8 - 4 miles on indoor track + weight/abs
    12/9 - 5.25 beautiful miles...40° F at 5:00 a.m. in December! Ran a route that I used a lot last spring/summer, but had been a while. Fun, relaxing, almost perfect!
    12/10 - 5.25 miles on treadmill (Trek class)
    12/11 - 3.1 miles on indoor track + weights/abs
    12/12 - 6 chilly miles
    12/13 - rest day
    12/14 - life day
    12/15 - 4 miles on indoor track + weights
    12/16 - 5 wind-blown miles. Can't complain about 42° F at 5 a.m. on December 16 though!
    12/17 - 5.05 miles on treadmill (Trek class)
    12/18 - 4.1 miles on indoor track + weights/abs
    12/19 - rest day
    12/20 - 4.75 miles around my 'hood
    12/21 - unplanned rest day; up half the night sneezing/coughing/blowing nose. It seems someone has gifted me a cold for Christimas.
    12/22 - 4 miles on indoor track + weights. Cold seems to not have grabbed on (another benefit of losing weight and regular exercise...I don't get sick nearly as often or as bad as before)
    12/23 - 4.75 misty miles. Wet, but pleasant.
    12/24 - 4.7 miles on treadmill (Trek class)
    12/25 - Christmas! Had hoped to run, but didn't happen
    12/26 - 5.25 damp miles...but warm for December!
    12/27 - Rest day
    12/28 - Lazy day...except a lot of shoveling snow

    @Amandajs232 Sorry to hear about your toe. I had to rest up for three weeks when I broke my second toe, and I was given the same medical advice as you. Tape it up, rest up and take ibuprofen to reduce the swelling. Personally, I found taping it up to hurt more, but I guess it's better than having it heal back wonky in the long term!

    @kristinegift Thanks for the tip about the neck warmer. I've been thinking about getting one, not that we really have the cold weather for it in the UK right now as it's more than 10°c warmer than it should be, but if the cold weather does finally hit I may well invest.

    1st-18th = Sick
    19th = 5km
    21st = 2.5km
    22nd = 3km +20mins elliptical & strength training
    24th = 5km
    26th = 5km
    29th = 5km

    Total month to date: 25.5km. I've given up on my goal, I'm apparently awful at maths and thought there were more days left of the month than there actually are :') But hey, I'm back into the swing of things and being a good girl by following my 6-week 10km training plan, which is what is important right now.

    I've gone and registered for all the races I want to do in the New Year, right up until May (thank goodness for payday!) I hope having them all paid for will keep me motivated, as they are now definite goals in my mind not 'maybe's. I'm doing...
    Hyde Park 10km - 31st January
    Richmond Park 10km - 27th February
    Spring Riverside 10km - 19th March
    Paddock Wood Half Marathon - 3rd April
    Run Hackney Half Marathon - 8th May

    I've also started keeping a running diary, on the advice of my PT, who said it will help him to see what I'm doing right/wrong and help to make me more aware of my training and it's impact on my body. Does anyone else keep one? Does it help?

    @louubelle16 I've kept a training diary since Feb this year. It helps me stay focused- I hate days with no entry. I haven't had anyone want to look at it, but I do note how I feel and what hurt. I can look back and see how long something bothered me. I also note my max HR and pace.

    That's a really good idea. I've been using these threads to keep track of my miles, but I think I'd like to include more details and my strength training goals/results as well.

    12/1 3.5 @ 11:17 on the treadmill plus strength training
    12/2 5.25 @ 11:04 on the treadmill. Oh my heck, please let it be sunny tomorrow. Or at least not so wet.
    12/3 4.75 @ 12:03 on the park trail with the doggy. Yay! Sunshine!
    12/4 3.5 @ 11:03 (really 3.25 at 10:48, plus .25 at a walk) on the treadmill, plus strength training
    12/5 3 miles hiking with the cub scouts :)

    12/6 Woke up feeling sore from Friday's strength training, so took a rest day
    12/7 9.25 @ 12:26 on the park trail, nice and easy
    12/8 3.75 @ 10:48 on the treadmill (3.5 at 10:39, .25 walk), plus stretch/yoga
    12/9 5.25 @ 11:32 on the treadmill
    12/10 Sort of rest day? Trip to Colonial Williamsburg with my daughter's history class. Lots of walking!
    12/11 6.25 @ 11:18 on the treadmill.
    12/12 Rest Day

    12/13 3.25 @ 10:10 (5K race chip time 32:06--I finished 191/395 women 30/64 in my age group)
    12/14 7.25 @ 12:03 (7 @ 11:57 and .25 walking) on the park trails
    12/15 2.0 @ 10:29 on the treadmill and strength training
    12/16 5.0 @ 11:49 on the park trail
    12/17 Rest Day. It is cold and wet and my back hurts from present wrapping. Bah humbug.
    12/18 6.0 on the treadmill (5 @ 11:40 and 1 walking) plus strength training
    12/19 Rest day

    12/20 Sick day -- I seem to have developed the creepin' crud
    12/21 8 @ 12:00 on the treadmill (7 at 11:34 and 1 mile at a walk) breathing ok, but still feeling tired
    12/22 4 @ 12:00 on the treadmill and strength training
    12/23 3.5 @ 10:13 on the treadmill
    12/24 2.25 @ 13ish outside in the drippy-drippy rain and humidity. With the slowest dog on earth. Who has been stuck inside because of the rain and needed to get rid of 3 days worth of...stuff. And needed to chase *all* the squirrels. Ugh. I think I actually ran pretty well when I was actually, you know, running.
    12/25 Merry Christmas Rest Day. Happy Holidays to all!
    12/26 5 @ 11:38 through the neighborhood trails in my brand new super-squishy purple slime Guide 8s and the most expensive pair of socks (Feetures) I've ever owned. Woohoo!

    12/27 Rest Day (taking an anniversary weekend getaway with the hubby and staying at a fancy-dancy hotel)
    12/28 3.5 @ 11:42 on the treadmill in the gym at the fancy-dancy hotel. Sadly, the treadmill was yuck, not fancy.
    12/29 3 @ 10:20 and 1 walking on the treadmill, plus strength training (worked on legs or I would have run farther! I'm afraid I won't get a long run this week with company and such, so I'll just work on speed).
    12/30
    12/31

    Upcoming races:
    1/18/16 -- MLK 8K at Burke Lake
    2/21/16 -- Disney Princess HM

    Thanks @Elise4270, I'll definitely try to keep it up as it sounds like it's been really useful to you. As I'm quite injury prone, it could be quite beneficial to chart aches and pains and maybe see patterns/causes etc. I think I will include strength goals in it too as it's a sizeable part of my training programme now. Great idea @5BeautifulDays :smile:

    @MorningGhost14 - Love me some Led Zeppelin. Not so great for running, though.
    @Elise4270 - OCD for sure! But, in a good way!
    @ddmom0811 - Wow! Congratulations on 30 years!
    @Stoshew71 - Impressive group on Christmas Eve! Flooded trails are crazy...hope you found somewhere else to run :smile:
    @juliet3455 - Yep...my feed bag has been strapped on for about a week. Got on the scale this morning..."only" found 3 pounds.
    @runner_girl83 - Yes! I get pretty upset when something unintended infringes upon the lovely workout I was planning or anticipating. It is good that it is usually early in the day and my family are all in bed.
    @Virkati - Congrats on the new distance PR! Way to stretch yourself!
    @moyer566 - Nice haul! Santa was good to you!
    @skippygirlsmom - Tshirts? Yes, please!!

    @louubelle16 , @Elise4270 , @5BeautifulDays and Every other Runner. One of the Ladies in my Local Running Club Keeps a " Clothing - Weather Journal " in the back of her Training/Workout Journal as a way to log her Run, Weather and Clothing so when she looks at the Temperature/Winds she can quickly pick out the Best Clothing Mix for the Planned Run and Conditions. I think that is a brilliant idea as a 10k Flat Run versus a 10k Hill Run is a completely different Clothing Requirement no matter what the Temperature/Wind.
    @Stoshew71 That is a dedicated core group of " Storm Water " runners you have.
    @moyer566 No Coal under your Tree, Nice = Runner Envy.
    @skippygirlsmom I agree with @karllundy on T-Shirts. Yes Please.

    We are trying to Do a Special Headband/Toque for our Core Group with Silk Screened Logos of stylized Male/Female runners and our Local RR and Car Bridge as we try to capture them in all our Trail Pictures.
    Avoiding any embroidery due to the Irritation Factor.

    I do that in the Garmin site with mine lately. It's been helpful to see which outfits kept me warm, toasty or chilly as the temperatures drop. I always struggle when we start to get cooler temps because I can't remember what works best for which conditions!
