Holy efficiensulting batman. *new word=efficient insulting.
^ new favourite word, right there.
thanks :blushing: ...and I have to agree with giving yourself a goal that moderate right now with the flexibility to adjust later. I just readjusted my cal goals since 3 different people agreed on the exact same weight for my height and age I felt it's a sign! It's a full 20 LBS HIGHER than my original target weight was. One of those people said my original target weight was "OMG? Emergency time... Dial 911!!" and was employed in the fitness industry (lol drama king). The other was a respected MFP member. The other one is my husband. All important opinions to debunk the number I pulled out from thin air as having been that in the past for many years. Key words ---THE PAST! I'm not a kid anymore. Time to get realistic with my numbers. Hope you reach your goals in a safe and realistic way. Try to ignore the static on this MFP channel. The underlying information is worth hundreds and maybe even thousands in gym memberships, trainer sessions, and nutritionist appointments.0 -

And now to work that word into my every day life...0 -
MsEndomorph - that is TOO FUNNY, because I have the exact same story! After losing a bunch of weight and feeling great in size 6 clothes, I had my body fat measured. I am also at 34.4%. "Say What?" I said. Sigh... So the very next day I started the Stronglifts 5x5 program. (Great group here on MFP.) I started off with baby weights and am slowly working myself up. My first goal is very simple: to get to under 30%.
Good luck to you!0 -
what is ur body fat percentage today?
I am guessing 22-23%...I check about once a month. Gives me a nice noticeable change. I also mostly ignore scales, as I wouldn't mind weigh what I do right now if I had 17% BF.0 -
I think what I think is not relevant, to your goal. But, I still think it's a good question about what is a good percent to aim for. I think for most women 25-30 is a good goal. That will likely be too much for me since I will still look quite large and still be carrying a lot of weight. As long as you are at a healthy weight for you or rather a healthy body fat percent, then you are good, after that it's just about your preference.0

Well any doctor would tell you that a woman's body fat percentage shouldn't get too low if she wants to get pregnant. I'm well aware that a lot of people don't want to live in reality. But to be "insulted" by plain facts...I have no problem being the "party pooper" if it means I am the only one who lives in the real world.
Everybody knows that a too high body fat percentage is bad if a woman wants remain fertile. It's common sense that it goes both ways, but somehow not okay to talk about it? I know that all things "fertility" is a minefield for women, but seriously...
And criticizing the body image which is in fact promoted by gay fashion designers is not the same as insulting all gay men. Try to keep things remotely sensible.0 -

Anything else I could say would just be mean.0 -
BTW, somatotypes are completely made up
As are all classification systems, no? Made up to serve some sort of purpose.
Somatotypes were invented in the 1940s, and at the time the scientific community had the knowledge of a current high school student. At the time scientists barely knew about genetics and biochemistry. They weren't even developed by a scientist, they were developed by a psychologist who looked at pictures of people and decided how they made him feel. Somatotypes are classifications that people use to give up before they even start. "I'm an endomorph and there's nothing I can do to change that." I've heard that one before plenty of times. Body type is a product of lifestyle...0 -

You've got better manners than I do. So I'll just smile and say ^ this.0 -
36%0

I'm 31%, normal for a woman is 21-33%, and I am aiming for 22%0

I'm 25% and my goal is around 22%.
I have quite a flat stomach now, the fat I have I store on my butt, thighs and hips. Of course women with apple shapes have to get skinnier than pear shapes/hourglasses to have a flat stomach, but I wouldn't recommend going too low.
A woman's fertility starts decreasing when her body fat gets below 22%. That doesn't mean you necessarily can't get pregnant, but it means your fertility starts getting compromised (which means it is unnatural). I couldn't care less about these fitness programs wanting women to have teenage men's bodies, not to mention fashion magazines run by gay men. I still find healthy women attractive, and that includes a woman having the body fat she needs to reproduce. There is nothing desirable about a body fat percentage of 15%.
From the pictures you posted, I find the most attractive to be somewhere between 25% and 30%.
Just so you know what was insulting...as for what you find "desirable" who cares except you and your SO....my husband finds me desirable at any size as long as I am healthy and guess what 15% BF is healthy so stick that in your pipe and smoke it. :grumble: :grumble: :grumble:
And I will never have a male teenagers body hard to do with the butt I Have and boobs....:smokin:
I am not so polite apparently
As for me current bf% is about 26% (based on one measurment) my goal is about 20-22% depends on how I feel when I get to 22%.0 -
I'm currently around 29% and aiming for 20%.0
