What exactly do you consider toned abs? Are you looking for a flat (tish) stomach or visible muscle (a "6 pack")? Both are dependent on your body fat level so eat in a caloric deficit. The latter generally takes a bit more muscle.

Having visible/toned abs, male or female, requires low body fat and adequate lean mass. You get the first part of that from weight loss and the second part of that from resistance training in some form.

Yeah I'm interested in a flat stomach with toned lines not so much a six pack. I'm very aware of the need to have a low fat percentage. Do you have any excesize ideas? ☺️

They aren't going to help really ...once you can hold a plank for a couple of mins you need to adapt / make it dynamic to get any additional benefit other than endurance for holding planks

    Drop body fat
    Progressive compound lifting

    See usmcmp thread ^^
  • It's all about the diet. Good nutrition going in and eating appropriately as I've recently found out.

Are you doing heavy squats, standing shoulder press or OHP? I very rarely do anything really core specific and have what you describe usually (it's been kind of a fat fall). It's really all about how much fat is covering your core. I carry my fat in my thighs not my stomach.

I've never done ab exercises, abs are built in the kitchen! And the actually shape and appearance is all defined by genetics.

Do a google search for "ab exercises". Also you tube.
