I have mine open because I think it can be helpful for others, and I like to look at others diaries for ideas, it's hard to come up with food options every day. Isn't it about community and support ? I welcome opinions and judgements , they might actually be helpful.

Mine is open because we are all here for health reasons (lose, gain, maintain) and to motivate each-other. I don't care what anyone thinks of my food logging.

Saying that most of my friends I choose have open diaries for a reason to help support each other when we fall off the wagon. We all have good and bad days. And sometimes the questions (when done positively) will help one get back on track.

Who has the time to go reading every one of their friends diaries anyway?

I have mine closed b/c I don't need advice. If I need advice or anything like that, then I'll open it, but for now, I'm good.

    Actually, your diary is open.

LOL. I guess I needed it open from when I got advice for my macros and forgot to close it. Thank you for letting me know.

Mine is awfully boring. I eat the same things on a weekly basis. Also, yes fear of judgement. But luckily I have nobody on my friends list  too much work socialising with them daily.

First time seeing this thread by my friend Toe!!

I used to have mine open but I got hassled by 2 "food police" that insisted I was an idiot for not eating keto.

But since I've closed mine I realize it is much better for me for many reasons.

First, I don't look at any one else's diary for the same reason I don't watch cooking shows. It makes me hungry. So if I don't care for looking at theirs then why do they need to see mine?

Then I got tired of questions about why I don't eat breakfast. I'm an intermittent faster. Not for weight loss but for energy levels. I do better with not eating or eating super light during the day.

Also, if I have a day that I eat terribly unhealthy or go way over on calories, I'm really good at not shame spiraling myself and waking up the next morning and starting fresh. I didn't do well with comments like "think you ate enough chocolate last night?"

Then I had a problem with a sleep disorder earlier this year that was horrible and on the advice of my trainer at the time and my sleep specialist, I needed the privacy. I kept a lot of info in the notes section about medications and about my sleep issues that needed to remain private.

Also, I didn't notice that it influenced me to eat better or to hit my calorie goal by having it Open at all. I'm accountable. But to myself. Not anyone else.

Lastly. I tend to be a pretty open book on the boards and with my friends, but only when I CHOOSE to be.

Also, I've been fighting with the last 10 lbs for so long now that I don't know if my diary would help anyone anyway!! LOL!!
