I weighed 189 the day I gave birth to my son back in July 14. Last year I was off and was able to work out most days of the week and I lost a lot of the weight and was down to about 145. I went back to work and now i am back up to 156. I work full time and find that after work I just want to be with my baby and not go to the gym. I know I need to though. I usually workout at least 2x per week. Sometimes I binge on eating candy at work. I get tired in the early afternoon and eat that to help keep me awake. Any advice ? I would love to be around 135 pounds.

You don't need to work out at a gym to lose weight, or even work out at all to. Start weighing with a food scale and log all of your food. Set your calorie goal and stick to it. Throw away the candy at work. Go out for walks with you baby-in a carrier or stroller. And just be really active with your baby. Most babies love activity. Do lifts with your baby's weight. Crunches with baby on you. If you don't have a carrier, invest in one. There are work out DVDs that you can do with your baby, no matter the age. You're worth it. Take care of yourself.0

Look at how you eat during the day - if you are tired and craving carbs in the afternoon, it could be that you are both dehydrated AND not getting enough protein and fat in the beginning part of the day to keep your blood sugar even. I found with candy accessible at work - I could pass up the first piece much more easily than the second same with cookies and other such stuff. And its perfectly OK to go home to your baby and not to the gym on your work days. Around my neighborhood I see LOTS of parents of infants out with them in the stroller, getting some walking exercise - depending on the weather you might be able to do that more. At any rate, be kind to yourself

Food logging
Batch cook at weekends
Take lunch and snacks to work that you have weighed and logged
Get up from your desk and walk more, take the stairs,to,for a walk during breaks
If you're going to eat candy log it
Stay hydrated
You don't need to go the gym. Do bodyweight when your baby is asleep if you want
You are your own gym
Nerdfitness.com. Bodyweight programme
Convict conditioning
And give yourself a break0 -
Reduce carbs to 110/day All be fine!0

Thanks! I do have a baby carrier and a stroller but I live in the northeast and its freezing in the winter so I don't like bringing my baby outside- unless it is not too cold- I do lift him high and he loves it. I chase him around but find I am so tired in the afternoon- I am a teacher so I work with kids all day and am on my feet most of the day except for my prep periods. I usually need a coffee at the end of the day. I have worked out my whole life- ran track and cross country in high school, ran 5ks, and did spin and other classes at the gym before I got pregnant- I've always been a relatively fit person. I did stroller strides with him which is a workout class for moms and babies and I lost a lot of weight and was feeling good. I went back to work full time in September and since then just haven't had time to workout. I do like to workout it makes me feel good. I try to on the weekends and 1 or 2 days during the week. I know its definitely my diet I need to change- I.E. the candy binging. and I know I need more water.0

Weight loss is controlled by diet, not exercise. Get your diet sorted out and the energy for exercise will follow. Get your fuel right and your engine will run much more efficiently!0

I'm 5'5 and started out at 165 after I had my daughter - just sticking with my calorie goal most days and exercising when I could got me down to the 120 range. I didn't set foot in a gym since I had my daughter all day, so maybe try to find some at-home exercises you actually enjoy? There are some great workout DVDs that are 20-30 minutes long that you could try to fit in during naptimes on the weekend, or before work in the mornings. You can also try to incorporate more movement into regular activities: jogging in place or doing jumping jacks while waiting for dinner to cook on the stove, parking further back at the grocery store lot, etc. For food I just looked at lower calorie snacks to help indulge the cravings when they hit. And I drink water non-stop every day.
Good luck!0
