I'm 5'7". Currently 169. Next goal is 159 which will put me in the normal BMI range. Then 140 ish I think is my ultimate goal but I am willing to change that depending on how I look and feel as I get closer to goal. I believe around 120 is the lowest someone of our height should go. If you're getting close to that and not happy with how you look, you should focus on gaining muscle and losing body fat.

I am 5'8" and am about 150 now. I would like to get back to 140 but I look good now so I am in no rush.

I have fairly broad shoulders and rib cage so I carry weight well. I tend to be a bit muscley too, so I guess I am of an athletic build, although I am not in great shape right now.

    I am a size 8 or med/large

5'8 and now 98kg (woo!). I don't know what this in lbs.

89kg will put me out of the obese BMI range and into overweight. 75kg puts me into the normal range.

    Aiming for 70kg then 65kg.

    Very pear shaped.

You're 215.6which is just about my starting weight here

    lbs X 2.2 = kg
and it's easy to do in your head...
just double the kg then divide that number by 10 and add it again
    eg 98x2 = 196
    196/10= 19.6
    So 196 + 19.6 = 215.6

I'm just starting out here on MFP. I'm 5'7 and currently 296 and about 44%. I'd love to say I'm an "athletic build", but I'd have to be one of those steroid strong women, which I'm not, lol

My first goal is 150, when I did have a moderately athletic build, and then 135, which is the median healthy bmi for my height and percentage.

    5'6.75 (was 5'7" when younger!); weight between 10 stone & 10 stone 2 (140-142). Quite active, work out 6 days a week.
  • I'm 5ft 7" and currently 177. Trying to get to 145 - Think around 140 is maintainable and a nice size for 5.6-5.8 heights . However, if you do a lot of resistance/muscle building you may be heavier than that but look leaner. Totally depends how you carry too! I'm an apple.x

I agree with you and think it's very important, on threads like this, to note how different bodies hold weight differently

Unfortunately the phrase a 'nice size' for heights when referring to weights is against this concept and perhaps inappropriate because a nice size for me is 20lbs over your goal which puts me in clothing size 6 (US) .... there is a reason as you've pointed out in terms of composition, that there is a scale of weights that are within healthy ranges

To be honest that's one of the reasons I post on threads like this - took me a long while to accept that scale weight is virtually irrelevant to body composition and that I don't have to be x weight to look good. Many think I weigh heavy, many use my weight as a starting point and they are my height ..

yet at 160lb my body looks awesome :)

I'm 5'7" and currently at 164. My first goal is 147. I'd say I'm quite broad, with muscly shoulders and legs, mainly due to having a horse and used to lifting big bales of hay and shavings. Would like to start some lifting to improve composition. As far as weight goes, once I reach 147 I'll probably eat at maintenance for a little while then reassess.

5'7" and starting weight 205. Currently at 197. Looking to get to around 140. I do not have an athletic build. I guess I'm pear shaped? Small breasts, large hips.

I'm 5'8" 185 and still have lots of body fat to go. My sister is 5'8" and 135 and is very slim, but gracile, not athletic. The lowest she ever got was 127 after a flu (aka NOT a healthy weight!)

5'7", 208. I wear anywhere from a 12 to an 18 on clothes, depending on the brand and cut.

I have A LOT of muscle, so it's hard to see high numbers on a scale even when I've been thinner. I also have broad shoulders, so I'm always going wear bigger sizes. I was a size 8 a few years ago, but still weighed 175. That's my goal now. Just to be a size 8. Heck, even a 10.

    Starting weight (Jan 1) 219
    Goal weight #1 (Feb 1): 210
    Goal weight #2 (March 1) 200
    Goal weight #3 (April 1) 192
    Goal weight #4 (June 1) 185
    Goal weight #5 (July 1) 180
    Goal weight #6 (August 1) 175
    Goal weight #7 (September 1) 170

I'm 5'7", started off at 169, have maintained at 125 for 2-3 years. I am definitely small boned though.

This site has some great examples of different body types at the same height/weight. It really shows the variation in appearance that body composition can make :)
I'm 5"7 and currently sitting around 160- I'm hoping to get down by another 15lbs but in no huge rush as I'm in a health BMI range :) I have lost 45lbs though so compared to where I was at a year ago I'm more than happy at 160 for the moment. (I'm not athletic in the slightest either)

I'm 5.7. I started at 216 (the highest weight I know of, but I weighed more and lost before I stepped on a scale). Currently, I'm 179 and hourglass, medium frame. I'm shooting for 140, I think, and we'll see how it goes from there. I might stop before 140, I might go a little further, say 135. We'll just have to see

I have large wrists (and feet) and corresponding large frame size: http://www.timigustafson.com/2009/what-is-your-frame-size-s-m-l-xl/

My goal weight would actually put me into Overweight according to the BMI chart, but that was the weight I was when I was a full time yoga teacher and in great shape, so think it's a good goal for now.

I'm 5'8" and maintain around 138/140. I lost about 15 lbs over two years ago and have been maintaining ever since. This weight feels really good to me. Not too hard to maintain and my clothes fit great (around a size 6 depending on the brand). The past two summers I have been able to confidently wear a bikini which feels awesome! Especially being over 40 and having two kids.

I'm 5'8" and currently 184. Starting weight was 240 and ultimate goal is 155. I have a fairly broad, hourglass shape. Really wide through the hips with larger boobs, very narrow at the waist. Had hoped to decrease my chest size through weight loss, but all I managed to do was reduce my ribcage circumference, giving me a large cup size.

www.mybodygallery.com has a bunch of picture of real people that you can browse through to get an idea of how much variation there is in the appearance of different weights, even at the same height

I'm a hair under 5'8'' and currently stuck at 168 lbs. I want to get to 155 and see from there. While I clearly still have some fat to lose, I have wide shoulders (and prominent collarbones) so going too thin may make me look skeletal. It won't happen overnight so I'll see when I get there ;)

I weightlifted through my whole weightloss (from 202 lbs) so I have a good amount of muscle already showing nicely :)

5'7" currently 150lbs. People describe me as looking fit. I'd love to be muscular but that doesn't seem to be in the genetic cards for me.

I'm 5'8'' and 31 weeks pregnant and weigh 163. Started pregnancy at 140. At my starting weight I felt great but always want to lose about 5 more. :)

I'm 5'7.5" and 170lb would love to be 140 but I just can't maintain that weight. This time I'm aiming for 150lb. Definitely not athletic build although I do a fair bit of exercise but at the same time I love my food. I find that on my body 160 looks good, or definitely makes me feel good, but I'm sure at that weight it means that I am classed as over weight, wish I wasn't a slave to the scales
