Your biggest pet peeves...

Help, I can't loose weight! Yes, the grammar part bothers me more than the impatience.

Couldn't possibly be that CICO works and she's just refusing to do it. Oh, but a juice fast, and nutrisystem, and weight watchers she'll shell out for and do.
^my mum was exactly the same although she was the one that got me on mfp. Last time though I gently convinced her to give mfp a go again and surprise surprise she is losing weight. Although now the complaint is about the rate of loss, she will get there (deep sigh and rolls eyes), I tell her any loss is better than none.0 -

Just go with her! I had wings and beer last weekend with my husband and still lost a lb this week. The weekend before that I had wings, old fashioned cocktails, and movie theater popcorn and I lost almost 2 lbs that week. and She will get fatter and you will get skinnier and then she will be confused since you've been eating the same things. Haha.0 -

I'm with you there. I NEVER harp on it, I know that doesn't work. And I never tell her I've lost more weight or anything aside from responding to direct questions. It's the putting down of my efforts when I do answer that gets me. I have faith she'll come around eventually. Can she help it when I'll be living proof it works?0 -
my pet peeve has to be when everyone tells me to eat more and that i have "body dysmorphia." just because i feel the need to better myself and my body does not mean that i need to gorge and eat the amount that an average sized person may eat (i'm short and petite). i hate when people try to tell me that carrots/tomatoes/avocados are carbs and should be avoided or that by eating fruit daily i am being unhealthy because they have sugar.0

People thinking that because they work, are a student, are poor, are a mom of 4, are over 40 years, are very short, don't cook, have a medical condition, work at night, etc that it is impossible for them to lose weight and someone who suggests it is all CICO is just being mean. Everyone has their own challenges to deal with.
People who HAVE to lose 30 lbs in just 2 months and aren't losing fast enough. Be patient and realistic. Don't do weird extreme things.
People who talk about eating healthy or wanting a healthy recipe. WTF do you mean by healthy? Low calorie, high protein, lots of kale, no gluten, no poison? How could I know what you think is healthy? Food has nutrients... pizza can be part of a healthy diet. If you have specific health goals or requirements then state them. If you want to have a special diet figure out what you need and where to get it instead of whining that your family/friends don't "eat healthy" or provide "healthy" options. If you want to go to a restaurant that meets your needs with your friends then tell them the restaurants you are okay with.

I don't have any pet peeves but I bet I know your friend's peeves; "Every time we plan to go out, pinggolfer96 wants to go somewhere he can eat healthy!"
Sorry I don't want to go to southern comfort food or Taco Bell....0 -
I am my own biggest pet peeve. I am constantly trying to justify my eating to my husband. Haha. Like, I'll be eating a plate of wings and telling him "well, this is okay because I only at x calories so far today." Or something like that. I'm constantly talking about eating and feeling judged when I eat something even though he doesn't care ONE BIT. I recently changed my mindset from having to do everything "right" to being able to eat whatever I want as long as I have calories for it, so I think I'm still in that mindset of trying to actually convince myself it is okay. I am slowly getting better at not doing this, though. And, I only do it in front of my husband, not other people, and I guess he signed up to put up with some of my annoying habits, haha.
My husband is also trying to lose about 15 lbs and it is so annoying when I make something and then make sure to diligently weigh my portion, then zero the scale, then weigh any toppings one by one. And then I know exactly how many calories I am eating. Then, he just plops everything on a plate without weighing and then asks me to tell him how many calories his plate is. I'm like "I don't know!! Did you not just watch me weighing everything out so that I know how much I'm eating???" Why does he think I weigh things if I apparently have the magical power to guess how much is on his plate? Then I ask him what his calorie goal is for the day and he tells me he doesn't count calories, so I just make up a number for what is on his plate.0 -
So many of these are so true! It bugs me when my BF says something to the effect of "well all you have to do is cut out carbs and red meat, that's what I did." Mind you he's 50 pounds overweight, so you can see how sustainable cutting out carbs and red meat was. When I try to explain to him that its about CICO, he says that's not what works for him, it's carbs and meat. Ok genius.0

You should remind them that concern trolling is just as much an affront to feminism as is fat shaming. A good feminist, or a true ally, knows it comes down to not judging another woman's body as an indicator of mental capacity or capability. No matter whether that body is large or small. (excepting extremes obviously)0 -

I think he was being funny love0 -
People telling me that I'm so lucky that its so easy for me to lose weight. YEAH OKAY. Because losing over 140lbs total was easy. Because I don't bust my *kitten* daily working out and making sure I make the best choices I can.
Also my mother haha. She was naturally very small her whole life (I was never small) and now that her inactive lifestyle has caught up to her she blames everything but her 4L of pepsi and chips daily addictions. She also keeps complaining about both her of cars being so much extra cash when she lives a 15 minute walk from her work and the stores (small town) yet refuses to simply walk to work rather than dish out for her car. >.< >.<0 -
People telling others to not eat their exercise calories if they want to lose weight despite the fact that they're using MFP for their numbers and should be adding them in.
And the use of the "word" gyming. I hate that.0 -
Here on MFP I can't stand it when people give advice based on how they assume things work on here. For example I seen someone advising others that in order to lose weight they have to burn off all of the calories they eat thru exercise because that is what is working for him.
In real life, I can't stand the MLM pushers. I just had another one yesterday. One of my friends is selling some kind of wellness stuff and asked me to check out her site.0 -
My parents are my biggest pet peeves. They watch way too much Oprah and Dr. Oz. I get articles in the mail and they mention these things all the time. Then the constant questions about if I am losing weight. Losing weight is such a small part of what I am doing. I am getting healthy and changing my lifestyle to something I can sustain and enjoy.
They mean well and are also huge supporters, but they do make me bite my tongue A LOT0 -
Me: I'm in a calorie deficit. Gotta lose a couple pounds.
Friend: then why are you eating cookies?
Me:0 -
most stuff i brush off, and dont even really notice.
i think the only thing that gets my blood boiling is when someone tells me how i lost it 'so easily' - because they only SEE me eating out, and drinking and being with my friends. They DON'T see the hours at the gym and running, and counting calories, and making choices (like i made a huge batch of cookies and had NONE so i can drink tonight).
okay i had a half of one cause i had to make sure they were good enough to give away LOLOL0 -
People.
Yup definitely people.0 -
"Eat a little of everything you want in small amounts." Sorry - if I was capable of doing that I wouldn't have a health and weight issue in the first place!0
-
I hate in social situations when people tell me it's ok, you can eat it, you work out. And stop lifting, you look jacked.0
-
"Good for weight loss." This seems to be a new one recently, as in:
Is food xyz good for weight loss?
What exercises are good for weight loss?0 -
People asking questions, given great advice and then the OP doing exactly the opposite of all the great advice they've been given.
Also, when youtube fitness vloggers peddle stuff from *kitten* companies and all the 18-25 year olds are like OMG if it works for them it has to work for me....quick fixes yes that's it people wanting quick fixes in anything in life annoy me.0 -
My boyfriend's nagging. He'll suggest what I should do to lose weight (it's stuff I already know, too! (like stopping boredom eating)) but when I suggest he take his own advice he says it's too hard.0
-
I guess if I had a pet peeve, it would be people making lists of pet peeves. I prefer to stay positive.0
-
Using #TBT to fat shame themselves. I have had a couple of people do this recently. Neither are yet ready or committed to lose weight so stop making yourself feel even worse about it!
The Arbonne pusher on my FB who, despite commenting on a couple of very good articles I posted about detoxes not being a thing, continues to push detoxes and cleanses as a thing. They also believe all sorts of other woo that makes me want to throat punch them regularly. I really should just delete them............
But generally, people have been awesome and I've even spurred some people into action and got some very nice messages. I'm sure that'll wear off at some point so I'll take it for now.0 -
Conversation with every single person who asks me how I'm able to stay in shape,
Person: omg I would do anything to look like you. How did you do it?
Me: oh I log and count calories.
Person: never mind that's too much
Or
Person: oh I tried that it didn't work for me.
Then the conversation ends.0 -
Not my biggest pet peeve but an odd one lately: When a poster asks for help and many people take time to post good advice (without jabs), and then the poster comes back and thanks ONE of them. WTH?0
-
My pet peeve about MFP is, for some reason, the people here who give advice to others, saying what they are doing is not sustainable.
Everything I have read says, over 80% of the people who lose weight (no matter how they lost it), gain it all back (some gain even more than they lost). Very few people keep it off for over 5 years.
So my question for the experts is, just what is sustainable?0 -
When people try and tell me that fat is good for you. Like yeah let me stop eating my veggie carbs, grains, and legumes to eat sausages, bacon, and eggs to be more healthy lol.0

Fat is good for you....it's an essential macronutrient unlike carbohydrates. Of course keeps your fruits and veggies, but fats is essential to optimal hormone function, vitamin absorption...etc. doesn't mean you have to eat sausage , French fries, and heavy cream, but avocados, nut butters, eggs, olive oil...etc.
