Because I was getting late and got busy, I couldn't have anything till about 4 pm and then I took a full 1062 calorie lunch that I had planned. How bad can 1000 calorie diets be? (Note: I did not eat anything all day, just one big 1062 calorie diet)

Is that all you're going to eat? Why wouldn't you eat dinner as well?

Frequent feedings are more ideal when losing weight because they increase your metabolism

1000 calorie diets are completely unnecessary as a weight loss strategy, they are prone to bingeing and yo yo dieting.

    Nope.

OP - I've done that on busy days. No biggie. Just don't make a habit of it.

Yeah, it does. Do you need some peer reviewed research

It's bad in the sense that you're likely not getting enough calories. Eat some dinner!

I wanted to hear that. Sometimes I just don't get time to make myself something. And I can't just eat anything random. It must have suitable nutrients as per my food log.

I know I just didn't realise that the ice cream I took alone was 400 cals.

You can't live on 1,000 calories - that's bad. But if it was just one day it's no big deal. If you ate that big lunch and just weren't hungry for dinner I really wouldn't sweat it. Maybe if it happens again have a small snack at the end of the day.

you've completely missed the point. 1000 cals is too little.

Of course if you're calorie deficit you're gonna lose weight but it works better when you increase your metabolism. I'm not saying it's impossible to lose weight only eating once a day - I'm saying it's not ideal because your body soaks up everything it can to store it because it doesn't know when the next meal will be. Unless of course you eat 1 1000 calorie meal by which point you should be emaciated lol.

18 year old male, never eats more than 1200 calories and only has 10 lbs to lose?

Not sure if serious... if you are, you either have a lot of learning to do, or you need a counselor to discuss disordered eating.

So you're not actually using mfp as it's supposed to be used?

What makes you think that eating 1000 calories is too much?

My body never "knows" when the next meal is coming. Whether I eat every two hours or every 18 hours, my body doesn't have a mind to know when to expect a meal.

It depends on your physical activeness. I don't work out or anything. So I guess the lesser calories in, the better! I do sprints and continuous rope jumping.though(I've very strong legs)

Has a sedentary lifestyle, barely moves. Every calorie in pops up around his stomach. Any advices for counsellors?

I have certain calorie goals. I was just wondering if sudden 1000 calorie meals once a day can be harmful for someone who takes proportioned 300-400 cal meals.

No, it won't harm you as long as it's not an every day habit. I'm a 24 year old woman, and I entered sedentary and got a goal of 1237 calories a day at 5'6" and 185. You should be eating a bit more even if you're sedentary, especially since you're a man. 1400 calories a day should be plenty low for you to lose weight.

(I'm now eating 1400 because I've increased activity and am generally more active than when I first started losing weight.)

If you're busy and eat very little every so often, it's not a big deal. We all have busy days sometimes and don't have time for scheduled meals. It only becomes a big deal if it's the norm for you.

1800 is the minimum amount of calories recommended for an adult male, one with only 10 lbs to lose should be consuming far more than that to lose 0.5 lb/week - sedentary or not.

I read about it. Hmm, it does say that 1200 is too low. I should push it upto 1600+ and instead of weight reduction focus on lean muscle gain. It's just that I have a belly and I want it in! I grow desperate after it.
